Numbness in face
Hello again everyone and Happy Holidays
I have been getting some numbness around my mouth area lately. Can this be caused by my neck herniation surgery?? Either I'm going nuts or I actually have some weird stuff going on.

Thanks and...

RE: Numbness in face

Hi tpm....I had the same problem shortly after injuring my neck. Did not have surgery though. The spine specialist told me that the face comes from the brain and the neuro confirmed it. I had an MRI and an MRA of the brain and nothing, thank God. Also had an ultrasound of my neck arteries and both were completely clean. The numbness and tingling have since subsided a little at a time. Have you called the Dr.??

Hello capricorn
Thanks for the reply. I haven't called yet but I will on Monday. A while back he wanted to do a brain scan so I'm sure that will be next on the list. Have a great holiday

RE: Numbness in face
I have the same problem, started like two weeks ago...my mouth, my lower face goes numb. I just saw my doctor, she said not to worry, it is stress related. My injury is carpal tunnel, not neck, but I also feel tingling in my neck when mouth goes numb. I kind of agree with doctor, I had samething happened five years ago after my back injury(not work related) and I also went through lots of stress at that time. I ended up at ER back than, my blood pressure shot up to 200, I though I was having a stroke. But nothing serious, it was all due to extreme stress.

RE: Numbness in face
Hi tweety
Luckily I've had no ear aches. As far as a stiff neck... EVERY DAY! continue with spasms on both sides of neck and pain is full circle, front, back, side to side. Along with shoulders, shoulder blades, and upper back. I found out the Lyrica I'm taking does work because the couple of times I went to go off it my pain got much worse.
My numbness has been while I'm working tweety (driving). for the most part all day. Just waking up this morning I do not have any right now

Thanks for the advise on what might be causing my numbness. I will mention that to the Doc when I see him

Thanks again guys

RE: Numbness in face
Hi tpm,

As always it is very good to hear from you. I understand the numbness around the mouth quite well. I have attached a chart that will tell you how the nerve pathways work. I did see that the top cervical regions can create changes in and around in your mouth. I hope this site helps. I believe it is a site that BadBoy has given out before and I kept for reference. Keep us updated on what your doctor says and how you are doing. Love Red
