Can I contact WC IC myself?
Well it has now been 19 days since my injury and by law in my state, MI, I should hav recieved a check on day 14 for lost wages.
Would it be inappropriate for me to contact the IC myself or should I just wait and hope. I do have a case, I have the claim number and so far all of my appointments have been approved, not to say they will actually pay them, but the appointment itself is approved as is my PT and my brace. I would assume, probably incorrectly, that this means they are not going to fight me? any thoughts would be appreciated, going broke fast. |

RE: Can I contact WC IC myself?
Feel free to contact your ic. The only time I see that to be a problem would be if you hire an attorney. For the attorney is going to want to handle things in his/her way. If you don't have an attorney, make the call. It will not do you any harm.

RE: Can I contact WC IC myself?
You just said it was about 14 days or so since you have been out. That is around the time you can expect a payment of some sort. You should of heard from your ic adjuster when in the beginning of wc. They usually call you and find out what happened and then give you a claim number, insurance card for meds etc. If you read up at the top of this page under your state, you will see you even get reimbursed sometimes for meds, mileage to the doctors.
Your work should also of sent you your pay rate over the last 25 weeks, figureing what your weekly ttd payments will be when you receive a check. Depending what state your in, you will have 60 or some states are 66% of your pay weekly. There is so much info you will need to know, so best to look at the top under your state. Good luck. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Can I contact WC IC myself?
thanks you guys, I did research at the top under my state then I also went to my state gov site and researched some there.
the insurance comany never contacted me and I had to get my claim number from the orthodics guy. I only worked with this place 11 days, so there isn't much to figure as far as income goes. My state pays 80% of after taxes , or 80% of net. today is day 19 from date of injury thanks again, like I siad, I had no clue if the practice ws frowned upon or not, and who needs more trouble. I'l be calling Monday |

My boss can run his mouth all day long. I don't care. At the end of the day the law is the law. I have found I get answeres quicker by calling the ic.

You do not need to feel that you don't need to upset them. I promise if the shoe was on the other foot and they worked for you they would be demanding treatment.
Always believe in yourself. No matter how much some people will make you doubt yourself. |

mjm44 Wrote:Well it has now been 19 days since my injury and by law in my state, MI, I should hav recieved a check on day 14 for lost wages. I was so nieve when I was first injured. I truely figured that since I was clearly injured on the job and injured severely that there would be no issues. Forget all you assume about honesty and fair play and Get a Lawyer NOW. It will just make it so much easier on you and quicker in the long run. A lot of injuries will be denied AUTOMATICALLY after the trial period of a few weeks. This is true even when they are undisputably 100% legitimate. The WC industry, in my state anyway, assumes first everyone is dishonest and second that they don't have any real injuries. It's so impersonel too, no one on the other end of the phone wants to hear what you feel or how badly you are hurt. They just want to get through their day and go home with the least effort and disruption as possible. A caller with a claim denial/issue is a disruption and what they want is for you to go away, not to necessarily help you solve the problem. That's where the lawyer comes in. Most times if the lawyer has been around for awhile they (or their secretaries) are on a first name basis with a lot of the claims people. So save yourself the grief and get a lawyer involved from the get go. Whatever you do NEVER get angry at the person in the WC office, for the most part they are following a scripted set of rules, and it's much more effective for the lawyers office to deal with their supervisors/managers. |
