Do hang in there. They tell you 60 days, but I think in reality they can take up to 90 days. Driller got his letter and then it was another month before he got his back pay check. Remember his was a one time shot for ssdi since he was back to work, so a much different situation. Actually, I think he got the letter, he then had to notify his attorney that it was a positive outcome - since the only way they learn is if they get the check from the government for the attorney fees. |

RE: disability
Your Attorney was correct, and it could take up to 90 days I was told.

RE: disability
Hi halftrack...first please hang in there. You have so much to offer all of us, and enjoy having you around. I know that you are in a tough situation and it would be easy to let it consume you. Lets think about what you can do about your situation.
First, you have filed for Social Security. Did you do the filing or did a lawyer do it for you? Requardless of who filed, at what stage are you. There are four stages. Have you ever been denied? It can take awhile for approval of social security but for some it goes right through. The nice thing is that you will recieve back pay from the time of your disability. I think your lawyer was telling you the truth which I know that is not what you wanted to hear. I am soooo sorry that I had to say that. I think you are in a situation that needs quick planning. Next, what are you doing about an income right now? Does your state have a short term disability program that it can pay you while you wait for Social Security to be approved? If not, what about applying for state aid and food stamps. I know that does not sound like something any of us want to do, but it will keep a roof over your head and food in your stomach. I don't have any other ideas about income, but maybe someone else will come on and give you more ideas about this. I wish you the best. My prayers and thought are with you. Please keep us updated about what course of action you take and how it turns out. Good luck Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. |

RE: disability
thanks to all of you for listening, oh I'll make it, at least my husband still works, it was just that I actually have worked for 30 years and I miss having my own money, things are really tight but we will get there,I lost good money when I lost my job, the weird part of it is my husband works at the same company that I did and I got him the job there.I know what some of you mean when it comes to thinking your co-workers were good friends, not one person I had worked with ,some for 20 years called to see how I was doing.Since we are down to one car now I pick my husband up at work and it seems weird, some of them wave and some don't.In answer to your question this was my hearing before the judge after 2 denials,Thanks for the shoulders to cry on.My mom always said "if there is a will there is a way"You guys have a great painfree evening, Halftrak

RE: disability
Hi.
It depends on the Judge. The Judge I had told Me to my Face I was approved after the Hearing. I guess it all depends on how they want to do things. |

RE: disability
hi halftrak........ hubby got his notice 30 days after the hering. was told it would probably take at least 60-90. hang in. i know how you feel. i supported 2 families off and on on my meager wages of 20 years. have no income right now. hubby couldn't care less but it bothers me. also am used to having my own money and making a contribution. i'm getting used to it as my family keeps telling me that i did for everyone and it's my turn right now to be taken care of. i think the lack of freedom, the limitations due to mt body and mind have gotten to me more, hang in, i know it's hard.
hip hip horray for halftrak ![]() that's the best pep talk i could do. i hope it helps. prayers, cap

RE: disability
Hang in there halftrak, good things come to those who wait, and if your attorney feels you won this time, he's probably right! I know the waiting game is hard, My wife and I have been waiting almost three years and fighting for back TTD owed me, and I sometimes just want to go outside and scream when the anxiety gets so high. My attorney tells me we will ultimately win in the end, and that's the only thing that keeps me hanging on!! As far as my SSDI, I was blessed to be approved in 3mos./3 wks. without an attorney, and that has been the only bright spot in my case so far. Hey, I'm 45 and I'm going to keep on fighting, until I get everything they owe me! Best of Luck and I hope your letter arrives soon. Just a thought though, is there any way you can look on the Social Security Website and see if there has been any action on your case?

RE: disability
Hi,
Yes, the waiting game is very hard...but when I applied for SSDI, it didn't take as long as they said (90 days), and one day out of the blue, a large check arrived from fed gov with no explaination....I had to call lawyer and ask if I was approved or what?? He said he "thought" I may have been approved, but to wait for a letter to follow ....which it did in a couple days. I lucked out, and was approved 1st time around.....but good things come to those who wait. Also....3rd time is a charm! Keep the chin up and good luck to you. Lilly
