HI,I have a friend here in Texas who had an IR done two weeks ago and was found to not be MMI.Now the IC wants her to have an IME.Is this to verify what actually is wrong? She is scared about this.
Thanks,Bethsha211 |

RE: IME
![]() A second opinion or IME can be for any number of reasons. the most common is that not all doctors are always correct. Hopefully if one doctor misses something, the second will catch it or offer an alternative treatment plan. Other times they have just have a different opinion as to what's wrong, what needs to be tested ,or how serious the condition is. they also may have sepicific information they want answered. Second opinions can be helpful when you have such a subjective profession as medicine.

RE: IME
My suggestion to your friend is to take all of her films or tests that she has had done. They told me that I did not need to do this, that it was the responsibility of the co. However, whn he wrote his report, he said that he could not agree with my Drs. because I never brought him my MRI's. My lawyer got the i/c to allow me to take in the MRI's and the Dr. would agree to ammend his report. I took in 2 sets of MRI's, an older one and the lstes one. His ammendment read that even with time to receive the MRI's, I only brought in old ones and that my unwillingness to bring in the most updated, he had to disagree with my Drs. views that I needed surgery. Take films with her and hand them to th DR. herself. Also, she may want to take a 2nd person who can help take notes or use a small recorder in her purse. The Dr. saw me for 5 mins. and named all these teste that he said he had me do, and I he never did.
Good luck to your friend. |

RE: IME
lfoster21,Thanks a lot for your info.I will tell my friend all that you said.Good idea about recorder. When the IME is done by someone that is hired by IC,there is always the chance that that Dr. might be predjudice towards IC.
