RE: impairment settlement
I agree Lilly. It totally changed my life for sure. I have to ask my husband to cut my meat at dinner time alot, and have my daughter peel potato's. I have a hard time opening cans with a can opener and feel so helpless when i cannot even open a jar that is loose. I do not trust myself holding a cup of hot coffee even with this hand, or picking things off the shelf in a grocery store. I have dropped way to many things and almost came to tears many times in public.
I just know this will be a lifetime thing. I know people probably think,,," how does she type ?". Well, i type alittle, get up. go for a drink, bathroom etc. I cannot type this all in one sitting. I constantly stop. Somedays are worse than others. I just feel for anyone with any pain at this point. If it was not for the meds like i said in many post....i would be a hermit in bed crying all day. Thank god i am now building biotech plants to make these so called " miracle drugs" for us to all have a better life that is somewhat pain free. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

sparkey Wrote:I also have shoulder trouble due to carpal recurrance, and protecting my arm for two months while wearing a brace and working light duty. I was protecting it so much that my shoulder froze up, and i had to go to therapy for 7 months, 4x's a week. I am currently back to work almost 2 months now and i am still having trouble with my shoulder/hand. I drop things, have no strength to even brush or blow dry my hair, being my dominant hand. When i type, i have to stop alot and go get a coffee, etc. |

Lilly Wrote:Aren't shoulder problems fun?? It sucks! Oh Lilly, I so know where you are! It's a year and 1/2 later and I never expected this!! I really thought I'd be back to normal at least a year ago. I'm right handed and not only do I have a right shoulder injury but I shattered my right wrist 8 years ago (also a wc accident :rolleyes so it's weak as it is. I feel like they might as well cut my entire arm off. I knew I wasn't crazy telling my Dr I was still having such severe problems this far out! I understand it's fairly common actually. So why is everyone acting like I'm a hypochondriac??

RE: impairment settlement
cuz your not bleeding on the floor in front of them
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: impairment settlement
Of the friends that I have, the only one who understands that I can be in pain and believe it, is one that has trigger thumb, nerve pain, etc. that was denied by WC to have an operation. This is the greatest online therapy, because we all know the truth, the pain, and the BS we deal with because of the injury.

Dont know what my rating is yet, but has anybody had something like this and what was your rating? Also, how do they come up with the amount for settlement? i had the same surgery on my left shoulder in 2/09..then injured the right shoulder....neither one is much better and my rating is 12 and 13...i am new to this site.. |

RE: impairment settlement
1171 Wrote:Rating depends on your recovery--Three years ago I broke up a fight at school where I teach. I was injured to the point that in May of 08 I had 2 rods,2 screws and a fusion. Then in 09 I had 2 steel cages put in and fused again. In April of 2010 I had a permanent stimulator install. That was 2 more 2 inch cuts. I look as though I've been in a war. I broke up another fight in March, rotator cuff surgery May 26, the day after we get out for the summer. All my surgeries have been in the summer, never missed a day of work. Always in pain, what can I expect for a rating? |
