w/c ic adjuster
Boy it sure is hard to get adjuster to call a person back ...
couple weeks ago i had to call answering machine everyday ... never getting a real person ...... only they left a message on my machine ....still cant get live person ...... so does that count as lack of medical care if they dont answer drs calling to make appointments or approve them ..... adjusters jobs are to keep costs down but when pt are still in pain How does that help anyone ? |

RE: w/c ic adjuster
Well you can always find out who their supervisor is and ask to speak to their supervisor - meaning that you call the main number and not their direct line.
Not saying that you will get any further - but at least you can log a complaint against the adjuster for not returning your calls or doctors calls. If you are represented - they won't talk to you - it's against the law in Iowa - they can only talk to your attorney. I can tell you - sometimes it took me 3 months to get someone to listen to me and I talked to the wc plant admisitrator daily about my pain levels - so if that answers your questions - they just told me they had to talk to the adjsuter about it. Once I got the attorney involved - they of course said it had to go through my attorney for requests but I still made the complaints about pain levels, etc. |

RE: w/c ic adjuster
My adjuster wont speak to me because I have an attorney. I can call her til my fingers are gonna break off and she wont call me back. When I didnt have the attorney, she called me back right away most of the time, and she was also very helpful. There was one time I had to speak with her supervisor because she didnt call back, turns out she was on vacation or something. Well, im glad I spoke with the supervisor, she issued checks for drs visits that my adjuster was disputing lol. Remember when I got that extra 40 bucks or something like that? lol
My opinion would be to call the person above her. But dont accuse the adjuster of refusing to call you back. They stick together, kinda like we do here. Say something like, I think theres a misunderstanding between me and my adjuster, I cant get ahold of her. Good luck! |

I think it's fairly universal that if you have legal representation then they can't talk to you....only your attorney. With my IC the adjuster and case manager had to call you back within 24 hours of leaving a message. That was just their rules. Now, that doesn't mean that I got an answer in that time...I just got a response to my phone call!! So, what I did was just leave my name, number and short message with my claim number and that was that. I gave them the reason of my call when they returned my calls!!! LOL Kinda made them a little upset a time or two..but hey, at least I knew they understood what I was talking about!!! LOL
I don't know what to tell ya though!! I don' think there is any trick to it, just sheer luck if you ask me!!! However, I do agree that you should complain to a supervisor about the need for a timely response to your phone calls so that you at least know that they are aware of what's going on and the specifics. I know that the better I kept them informed of things the better communication I received from them. But that was my case..... Hope you're able to speak with someone soon!!! Good luck!! Punk  :0) "If I were any better....I'd only be half as good as you!!" |

RE: w/c ic adjuster
Failure to authorize benefits for any reason is considered a denial of benefits by the comp court. For the most part adjusters are like attorneys - too few for too many cases to give the proper time.

RE: w/c ic adjuster
Tweety-this is a situation where your employer can be a real help (if they're not disputing the claim). Your employer's goal is to get you back to work as soon as they can. Waiting for weeks to get approvals does not help that goal. Your employer has clout with the IC because of the premiums they pay. Chances are, the employer has the phone number of someone in the Claim Dept. who can get things moving. The IC will talk to the employer even if the claimant is represented. You may want to try telling your employer about your trouble.

RE: w/c ic adjuster
Call the adjuster's answering machine, calmly tell them that you have been trying to contact them for days, and since you haven't been able to reach them, your Dr. preformed everything that was necessary to get you back to good health, and to expect the billing to be sent directly to their office so that payment will be expedited. Also explain that the Dr. demands payment 10 days net, or his attorney will be contacting them!! See how fast you get a call back then!! (LOL)
