RE: Dogs vs. Cats
I like both dogs and cats, although I only have a house cat since I live in town now. When I worked on a dairy with my father we had a few pet cows. My mother would raise them up as pets and some stayed that way even after they had calved and were part of the dairy herd.

RE: Dogs vs. Cats
I am a dog lover first and foremost. I think cats are beautiful and I like kittens and other people's cats, but I don't have any use for one of my own.
Now to me, dogs are a true joy. I love all kinds and everything about them. We are down to seven now and it sure does make it easier to take care of them, but I even love the work involved when we have puppies. I have always liked big dogs, but small dogs are much less expensive to take care of. When we found rat terriers, we hit the jackpot. They are a big dog in a small dogs body. They don't yap, love to be loved, and aren't afraid of anything. We also have banty chickens, nine pigs, one rabbit, one calf, and two horses. We love all animals. I used to have a ball python, a parrot, two ferrets, hamsters, and two different rats at different times. I have also had cats. I guess you have figured out by now that I am an animal lover. EXCEPT SPIDERS!!! |

Thanks Chris,
I just can't get another dog to put all my heart & soul into as I did for Trouble & Lucky D. It hurts me to know that one day Lucky D will not be by my side pestering me for a treat, following me to the bathroom, or waking me up at 4 a.m. to go potty! I think volunteering is the best! ![]() chrischris Wrote:Babe, that is such a good plan you have to volunteer at the ARF Assn. I think that is why my daughter-in-law and I get along so well. All through her high school and jr. college years, she volunteered at the SPCA, and she will not allow her kids to be without pets. She regularly brings bags of pet food to the shelters, and the boys love to go on these field trips and play with all the animals. RE: Dogs vs. Cats
My wife and I have been very well trained by our cat "Chee-Chee".
Chee-Chee was a ferrel cat that my wife's friend gave to us. She has been spayed and declawed and she is not allowed outside. If she got hurt or worse it would be like losing a child. Nothing changes when nothing changes |

RE: Dogs vs. Cats
I don't think it matters what I am as my cat seems to be a dog 'person'. Yep, you heard it, she would rather cuddle up to one of her three dogs than to me it seems, LOL
This is the first and only cat I have ever 'owned' (yeah right, LOL) and she just swooshes her little grey butt right on by me like I'm not even there most of the time and heds straight for a dog. Of course she hates ALL other dogs and cats but I wish she didn't hate me as well. Therefore, I am and always have been a dog person and have three of the cutest little girls you have ever seen, well four if you count the cat cause sometimes I really think she's a dog, LOL

RE: Dogs vs. Cats
I am an animal lover period. During my life, there hasn't been but short intervals when I didn't own a cat or dog, and at times I had several of each.
At the moment, I am down to just 1 dog. His name is Binkers, and I call him a found puppy instead of pound puppy. He is a pure bred peekingnese, although he couldn't be AKA registered as he has a deformity, and his little face looks as if he ran into one parked car to many ~LOL~. His owner moved into our apartments in Vegas June of 03, and the person she moved in with gave her 24 hours to get rid of Mr. Binks. Just before she was to take him to the pound, we ran into each other and Mr. Binks came into my life. It was as if someone knew that I would need him in the following years. He has been through so much with me. My WC injury in July of 03, the surgery in Nov. 03, another in April 04, my divorce due to domestic abuse which began April 04 (4 days prior to my second surgery) and that was final in Sept 04, being evicted from my home in July of 04. And then there was trying to find a job which took till Jan 05, the death of my father in Jan 05, being hospitalized twice the summer of 05 and finally, packing up a truck and moving from Vegas to our new home here in TX. And he is still at my side now as I deal with the problem of my foot. During it all, he has been at my side, not once asking for more than a home, food and once in a while to have his tummy rubbed. When he climbs up beside me and gently rubs his little paw across my thigh or back of my hands, looking at me with those deep pools of brown eyes, as if asking if everything is okay, I just melt. It is such a human expression that he has in his look. And boy, ~LMAO~ he sure has me trained. Instead of him playing fetch, he has me do it. He always has at least one can of puppy treats (generally three if it is just after payday) has the run of the house and gets to sleep just about anywhere he likes. I'm not sure just how old he is, although the vet figures between 7 to 8 years old. My boyfriend wasn't happy when I told him that Mr. Binks had to come with me, or I wasn't coming. Now, he is so in love with the little stinker that he refers to himself as Daddy to Binks. It is going to absolutely kill me when Mr. Binks dies (which I am hoping isn't for a very long time). He means almost as much to me as my own kids. When I am totally stressed out, or in pain as I am now, he never ventures far from my side. And being able to just lay there and pet his silky coat is such a comforting feeling. My eldest son keeps telling me that Mr Binks is his and that someday he is going to come and get him from me. I tell him over my dead body, and I think that my boyfriend feels the same way. He is just such a treasure and a joy to have in my life. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |
