YOUR FIRST HEARING????Settlement?

Hello again,
Did any of you get a settlement before your first WC Hearing????? Or offered one???It has been over a year dealing with this for myself.How long has it been for yourself and how long did it take to get any sort of settlement offer?I have used everything I could to not loose our house but its probley going to happen now because of all this excrement!What was I thinking.I knew nothing about work comp and still wish I didnt!Injured cant work,Live in a rural area where everybody knows everybody even in the big towns.I cant get a job because of my lawsuit.Everyone seems to know in a small town.I wish I would have never done this now!!!!Born

I am sorry that you are having to deal with W/C. I am not at the point of settlment, yet, but I just wanted to let you know that I will keep you in my prayers and I am sure others with info. will soon jump in.

Born I was offered settlement 6 months after it happened .. but I knew that I needed more treatment .. and hearing on here that my insurance wouldnt cover me if I took it ... I cant live with way so I didnt even ask how much I just asked for 2nd opinion .. Then got a denial letter instead .

Yep small towns bite ... Everyone knows everything ... or when you apply they still talk .. But never would admit to it .
You do have a lawyer right ?

Hi Born, it's been Three Years for Me, I'm totally disabled, been to 11 hearings with another one soon, 14-16 Petitions in My Case, and they, even at the Judges suggestion, have Offered Me a thing!! I guess i/c's are different, some Offer, some Don't. I really feel it's not been offered to Me because of the Defense Attorney. he thinks he has a Strong Case, or at least he's feeding that to the i/c, and they won't even think about Settlement at this Point. I Offered Two different Settlements over Time, and the Defense attorney turned them down, I don't think the Employer or the i/c ever saw them! He's making Money the longer He drags this out, Sad but True, I Hope Yours goes much quicker!!

Hi Born, Sorry to hear you are still in this WC mess, Didn't you have job offer a few month back? What happened?
I after 2 years have had 2 settlement offers, the first I laughed at, the second I agreed to settle, that was back in June and have yet to sign settlement papers as IC is now contesting wording that my attorney wants in papers ( protecting me), So the games continue and I have heard nothing. they started negotiating with me the night before the hearing, so I chose to take my chances at the hearing. From time of first hearing until the commissioners decision was almost 5 years - from time of 2nd injury to hearing was 2 1/2 yrs - so if that helps any. It does make it difficult when you live in a small town in Iowa because everyone knows you or knows someone that knows you.

I even had a hard time finding a different job when I started searching because of my case that was going on - it wasn't until I moved out of the area that I was able to find one - of course now everyone here knows I had a wc case up there....... lol
