RE: Terminated after 28 Yrs.
Confused, have you looked at social security and voc rehab?

I had something silimar happen to me. When I reached MMI and was released from the doctor with no restrictions I took the paper work to my employer and they told me, "We're sorry we don't have any more work for you" this was the same supervisor that told me the previous week that I didn't have to file a work com claim and I cost the company to much money.

Problem was I was still having problems with my knees, at that point I hired an attorney went back to court and re-opened my medical and had more surgery.

My employer since told wc that it was a mistake and I had not been terminated, I am still listed as an employee although they will never work me again.

Confused

Once I finish with my surgeries I will go thru the Voc Rehab program.

Voc Rehab works with organizations that uses adaptions and modifications in the workplace to ensure you are successfully employed.

In our area Voc Rehab works with UCP to build modifications, this might be an office worker that can no longer reach for the ledger on the shelf where modifications are used to help the injured worker do their job.

I am eligible for Voc Rehab because I recieve SSD and I recieve the training information offered. One training now being offered is for adaptive Microsoft Office Certification.

Assistive Technology in the work place makes it possible for individuals with disabilities to work that other wise would not be able to because of their physical challenges.

Remember you also have the protection of ADA in the work place.

RE: Terminated after 28 Yrs.
Confused,
I am so sorry about your termination after 28 years of service. You must be saddened and pissed off at the same time. I know I was. I was also terminated the same day I reached MMI. I know smoke rolled from my ears for several days afterwards! I am doing the voc rehab now, with little results. No one wants to hire me with all my restrictions and health conditions. I am in work hardening at present...where I actually go to work daily. It is a very degrading job...but WC feels that it will somehow be impressive on my resume! And give me some experience....sorry, but in my mind I've worked all my life, and do not need any experience doing so. They act as if one lays around in bed all day in their pajamas!! Sorry but I rise at 5:30 EVERY MORNING and get dressed etc. After work hardening ends...I am unsure what they will require me to do next, I have already job hunted for over a year......I'll let you know in a few weeks.
So sorry you are going through all this...it's quite the roller coaster ride, isn't it?
Prayers for you, LillySmile

Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!!

Confussed, I'm Sorry for what happened to You doesn't even come close to the way I feel about what they have just done to you, and I'm Sure You are Mad, Saddened, Confused, a little Lost, and a whole lot of other Feelings going through you right now!! I've come to know You a Bit from being on Here, and You Seem to Me as a Very Proud Person that's Worked Hard all of Their Life, and Paid Their Own Way!! Please Don't let that Damned Depression creep up on You!! If anyone right Now has a reason to be Depressed, it's You, but Please try hard not to let it slip in the Back door on You. If there is ANY THING I can do to Assist You right Now, Please Ask, I would be Glad to try and Help!! Hang in there, maybe when you Speak to Your Attorney, You Two can come up with a Game Plan to Counter Act what They've Done!! Best of Luck, and I Hope things Start to Turn in Your Favor!!Wink

RE: Terminated after 28 Yrs.
Each state has a state & federal funded advocacy protection program for individuals with disabilities.

In Kansas the organization is called DRC and is made up of attorneys that protect the right on individual with disabilities. I recently worked with a family with a young lady with learning disabilities and seizures that worked as a para educator for the special education school district.

This young lady was clearly being discriminated at work due to her disability. I referred the family to DRC and an attorney is working with the family at no charge.

I doubt if they will take on work comp related cases.
After your case is closed and you return to work they may assist you with employment issues, you would need to call them and find out.

If you will post your state then I will pm you with the organization name & contact info for your state.

it is a terriable shame what they do to us for doing our job

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Terminated after 28 Yrs.
OH my God someone cloned me and I don't remember it happening. I also have three children have worked my ass off. My husband didn't cheat except with a bottle and I divorced him, I raised my three children by myself, put myself through nursing school. I have always been told by my employers that I am one of the hardest working people they have ever seen. Now I am used goods, I cannot do the work and I can feel the axe coming. I will probably know when it hits because it will be right beside that knife in my back. If I can do anything for you, even just try to cheer you up, all you have to do is ask.
Backache

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!
