Saw Nephrologist Today
Hi Everyone,

I saw the Nephrologist today for a follow up from when I was in the hospital with Acute Renal Failure. My blood work for the kidney function was better but not normal. I am in Stage 2 Renal Failure and I am also Anemic. She said the Anemia will have to be monitored. Your kidneys produce erethyopotein (spelled wrong) but it is what helps the kidneys to produce red blood cells. My BP is still a bit high and we need to keep an eye on that also. My urinane was clear today so I guess the antibotic the Urologist put me on last week is working....thank god. I see the Urologist on the 31st and I see the Nephrologist again in 5 months. Trying to get in to see a doc right now for the neck pain and headaches I have been having. I called lawyer yesterday to get WC approval for a visit with my Neurosurgeon. They gave me an appointment for Oct. 25 but need WC approval for it. Have not heard anything yet.

Just an update for my extended family. Hope all is well or going better for all of you today. Love ya'll.

Cajun Hugsssssssssss,
MJC

RE: Saw Nephrologist Today
Hi MJC, It sounds like you are doing better, despite the Kidney Disease. Not seeing your Nephrologist for 5 months is a good thing. If he/she was worried, you would be in there sooner. Try to keep your blood pressure under control, as that is the best way to keep your kidney function under control.

Good luck on you WC appts. also. Is your CKD a consequence of your WC injury? or is it a separate issue?

Thanks for the update. Take care of yourself. Watch the salt and keep your body moving.

Let Go, and Let God......

RE: Saw Nephrologist Today
MJC, Have any of these DRs you are seeing for your kidney problem told you why this has happened? Is it related to your injury or meds?
Just curious, Wishing you the best outcome.

MJC...always great to hear from you. I agree with CC that not seeing the Dr. for 5 months is a good thing. Prayers will continue for you to continue to recover and that all with WC works out positively for you.

MJC:

I hope you have a full and uncomplicated recovery. I'm like Tuffy and was wandering in any of the meds that you used for your injury caused any of your kidney problems? I know some meds that I have used, the doctor has to do blood work every so often to check for problems with the liver and kidneys.

I hope your able to get into the Dr. and have get some help for your neck pain and headaches also. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Take care
Vickie

RE: Saw Nephrologist Today
Thanks for all the kind responses from all of you. Yes, I have been on plenty of meds for my injury in the past 8 years. Yes, they seem to think the long time use of the meds have also played a hand in this. While I was hospitalized I was taken off Neurontin, Baclofen and Zanaflex due to the toxicity to the kidneys. My PM doc was told about this and now he replaced those meds with only Robaxin. My PM doc has done blood work on me periodically but when I got so sick this was the first time the kidney failure showed up. I also had a bad bladder infection and then came down with the E-Coli which was all a part of the Acute Kidney Failure. I guess you are damed if you do and damned if you don't. It is a no win situation no matter how you look at it. It is quite a bit depressing. Still have not heard from laywer as of yet regarding the Neurosurgeon pending appointment.

Thanks for all the prayers and the hug Limbo. God Bless all of you!

RE: Saw Nephrologist Today
MJC -- If your Nephrologist has written a report that the meds have been directly related to your kidney problems, then WC should be covering the medical, if they aren't already. Your lawyer has probably already addressed that but just in case, you need to make sure the responsiblity falls to the correct insurer and you are taken care of. I wish you the best. It sounds like you have been through a lot in this system.

RE: Saw Nephrologist Today
Hi MJC.... I am so sorry that you are experiencing all these health issues. The believe the main and most immediate issue is to watch your blood pressure. Have you been on Blood Pressure medication before this incident. You may have said and I don't remember. Acute renal failure can be the result of so many health issues such as having a history of high blood pressure. It could be a related to a history of taking the medications and it could be related to the bladder infection depending on the bacteria involved. It also could have resulted from the E coli infection. Any of these factors cold be the direct cause or just contributing factors. Add it all up and your body was definitely at risk for acute renal failure. Hopefully with control of your blood pressure you will feel better soon and will not have a reoccurance of the acute renal failure. My prayers are with you. You have been very sick and yet you find the time and energy to come here and write the most beautiful and caring notes in support of everyone here. You are an amazing women and one that I am very happy to have come to know. Red

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
