appointment
Ok I got to visit a spine clinic .The place is pretty easy to find (hubby drove) got there early . I paid for this . First off seen one doctor who works under the big dr . the first one does the exam... checking reflexes ... tappng spine . etc ... then you are get tosee the big dr .. who comes in asks you to do a few more things ... little exam.Off i go for xrays of neck and back .Showing the denial paper ..
Come back and already xrays on the moniter .... they look at old mri from oct 06 ..... say that doesnt look to bad . But we want you to get mri of the neck donewith contrest and without after speaking to big dr ... After that is done I come out hubby has a paper stating tp for 12 weeks .. we'll call when we get results .. This time I was smart and asked for copies of everything including mri xrays. So after seeing the big dr for 5 minutes im told well call u .. Never did get to ask questions since i thought i would be going back to see him ... no restrictions .... So now i sit and wait .... funny how they didnt want to do new mri on back when the first dr said ooo they are kinda old and after i stated that i had to do a new claim This place had all services right under the same roof . So at least im going to get pt that w/c neuro suggested but othro didnt think I needed lol Any ideas ??? help |

RE: appointment
Whos going to be paying for your pt? you or wc? Im glad that you at least got that. When you filled out the forms for new patient, did you include either a typed or hand written list of your concerns? If you dont have one yet, do one up. WHen they call you with the results, try not to let them off the phone too quick and see if you can address some of your concerns then.
Good luck. |

RE: appointment
Thank limbo for the bump lol
Princess I guess i will and my i/c will .... I did a huge list on the papers  provided .. Im just shocked that they really didnt do much for lower back or tingling / burning .. Just dealt with the neck more after doing xrays on both ... Since starting w/c mess Im not very trustworth of any drs right now ..... not after getting hardly any treatment .... in 7 months time seen ortho 3 times including ime  and 2 times for neuro ....always saying its just age ...... I never hurt before fall... I know i shouldnt nag since alot of others have  it worse .. That is a great idea for when they DO finally call .... will get a list of questions going ....  In the back of my mind  i think part of this appointment was w/c just by the way they acted....since When they wanted to settle I said nope I want a second oponion and stated this drs name .... Dont you just love how fast adjusters  never return calls ... I swear they have something that shows phone numbers and hit it when they dont want to chat with a certain person. But i do feel for them too I wouldnt want to hear bad stuff all day long either l. Sorry it became a book lol |

RE: appointment
tweety
Could be that they are dealing with what they feel is of the most concern to them at the moment. You are basically starting over with this doctor compared to seeing another doctor in the WC system where the IC would just transfer your case to them. One thing I found is that when you see a doctor on your own, they want their own x-rays, mri's ect and want to try conservatitve treatment again first. Even when I went to see the ortho this month - they started out with the cortisone injection but they realized PT would not be useful for me since I have good ROM and strength yet in that shoulder considering what is going on it. So I got to skip the PT part because it wouldn't be of use to me at this time. Where as this doctor feels that PT will still be of benefit to you. If it is - great - then they can deal with the next issue. Give it a chance and if your lower back gets worse -then don't hesitate to call him back and get a sooner appointment to address the lower back issue. |

RE: appointment
tweety
that is good that the pt is for the full body that means that he is not taking it all lightly then. Normally if he thought it was just the neck he would have limited the pt to just the neck and seems like he didn't - so he listened to you. Maybe he wants to see how PT does on your lower back then before he orders new MRI's on the lower back - you know how health insurance companies can be - they still have to approve and deny some times - which means he has to show a reason why he is ordering the mri. |
