Closing Medical Lowball
Good morning- so after more than a year of being jerked around and Mediation less than a week away, the Insurance company now says the max they will settle for is 25k and that includes payment for injury. Literally less than 17k is their offer to close medical when surgery is needed. Lawyer says they don't have to close medical and I can take it or wait and attempt again later. Any advice on this? I cannot believe I've waited over a year and they do this. Thank you for any input. Injury happened in Tennessee.
You can,t predict whether surgery will be a success.
There are often complications and long term effects.
Why not keep the comp carrier on the hook for your treatment?
Treatment costs rarely drop.
Leaving the medical open guarentees you'll always be covered.
Unless they have reason to believe that their future costs are going to be substantially greater, there is little incentive for them to pay more to settle.
Schedule the surgery, it'll let them know you are serious about your treatment.
