My Evaluator, like yours was very nice and skipped several parts of the test, because he didn't feel that I could do them. We both agreed to stop after so many of each tasks that I did. Most task I could only do part of the amount wanted. He even wrote on my work slip not to return that day, he told me to go home and rest, use my heating pad, ice and TENS unit, because I was hurting pretty bad. My results showed that I could do light duty work only, with restrictions. Take care Vickie |

RE: ? on fce
Capricorn, I too seen your question. I had found, when a human performs an FCE, they will try to get you to push yourself. Then ask your pain level, and also should be checking your Heart rate right after such task. Both the Heart Rate and Pain level, are the tools they are suppose to use to figure out a proper level. But if ones Heart Rate isn't higher then a task done with lower pain level, then they use that to say, you were not trying hard enough.
This is a fact to why Wink and myself state over and over again, Humans make errors and improper judgement opinions as to what one can really do. (EXAMPLE) My Computer Operated FCE, stated clearly, what I performed, and showed my Heart Rate all the way through the task I was doing. Being so, my Heart rate might of been higher at one point during the task, then at the end of such task, being said the Human error was then removed from the equation. Leaving only the true facts. So in the end of my report, it stated, even though I did do this, and did do that, it had proved without a given doubt, that I for one could not perform such task in the work feild on a daily basis, and that if I were to work, I might be able to work 4 hours a day if that, and at a sedatary feild would be better suited at 4 hours a day. People need to learn, the Computer FCE's are a program, designed by Humans, medical information, pain levels, heart rates, people weights, and so on is part of what the humans do in a FCE. Being set into a program, that basicly would give an opinion of what a human would do, but yet leaves out, what the human had missed during such FCE. It uses the same information humans use. Just leaves out, many undoable mistakes that the human missed. ((A computer is dumb, remember I said a COMPUTER is DUMB)). It can only do, what a human has programed it to do. Now if I made sense to this subject, many can understand that the computer operated FCE, is doing the exact same thing a human would do, for it's using human knowledge to properly perform a FCE correctly. And then give a better honest report to the facts of the persons abilties to perform. Even the ROM (Range of Motions) is performed using the computer, not the human eye. BadBoy:
Mine was done by a human, and he took the heartrate after most task. He said that he inputs this info into the computer program and it puts out the results. I can see what you mean by human error. He also would ask what my pain scale was after each task. Thanks for the info. Vickie |

Vickinat, (post 14)
Now see what you said, they took your Heart rate at the end of the task. Being said, what was your Heart rate during such task. They don't know that. Being said, they could have missed something. This has happened to me, in my 3 FCE's performed by a Human. Then I went out and paid for the Computer Operated one. You would not even begin to see the difference in what all was missed. But also a major factor is this. If your told you can't return you your prior type work, watch out, for they will still do a FCE on the type work your performed when injured. This to me is all wrong. They should be performing an FCE on you to see where you then fit in the work field. So be real careful when doing one. If your told you can't go back to prior job.
