Workers Comp Lawyer
#1
I have a case in MD that is almost 9 years old, injury date 4/28/08. I live in FL now. My question is......

My lawyer has been paid in full, but here in the last year or so I feel I have been working backwards with her because, every time I send her an email of an update of a pain management doctor she writes back like we never discuss things or " I dont understand".  In the beginning she said she prefers emails so she can keep track of things said over phone calls. I know she is on meds of some kind but that is beside the point. She was great in the beginning but here lately I am pulling my hair out. Can she quit on me if she has been paid in full? Can I fire her? There is no money left to pay anyone. I am at the end of my W/C. I am trying to go for Permanent total disability. I am already on S.S Disability.  I am also on a Structured Settlement paid out weekly. I have tons of questions, so any help will be great.
Thank you for your time.  Grant

Yes your lawyer can ask to be relieved/dismissed from the claim.
Yes you can retain another lawyer.
If you are going for additional total disability, then there maybe funds for an additional fee.
Your problem is finding solutions when you live out of state.
You should at least try a phone call to your atty to discuss your frustrations.
If your atty is part of a larger firm, you might talk to a partner about switching to some one else in the office.
Otherwise you're left with searching for a new Maryland atty from where you are.
Reminder :

1171 gave great advice. I would recommend not to fire your attorney unless you can hire another one, unless he is harming your case and you believe you could represent yourself better.

I agree with 1171 to talk to them about this via in phone or in person.
I am not an attorney.Anything I write should not be considered legal advice.I am writing from my own personal experiences, which is not from any sort of legal background. You should consult with an attorney over legal issues. In California, if you cannot get an attorney you can consult with an I&A officer.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum but I have read several posts on CRPS. I have been battling this for 2 yrs. WC giving me the run around...no benefits, fighting for help and a change of doctor. WC play a dirty game...its almost like they rather see you in pain and loss of mobility verses getting you the help you need. Can anyone give me some advice...gabapentin does not help.
