Just plain worried
I really hate dealing with all the wc issues...I was hurt at work as a result of another employees horseplay on june 9th... I have had PT and 2 MRI. Finally after going the the Dr last week along with a wc nurse...I was told I need surgery on my back. In the last 2 wks Ive lost an additional 25% of the strenght in my left leg. So now Im waiting to hear if wc will make me get another Dr opinion. In the mean time Ive been off work totally since the 5th of this month. Ive been trying to get in touch with wc to find out if there is anything else I need to do to start recievingg a check. They wont even return my call. Its like they want you to beg for everything. My work place gave me my fmla papers to fill out ...looks like it could be several weeks into it before I even have my surgery. My Dr said I would be off at least 12 wks. So I feel like work is setting me up due to the fact that I wont be able to return to work at the end of the fmla that is only 12wks. Im just so frustrated...and to beat it all the idiot at work never even said he was sorry.
I think it may be time to get a lawyer involved before this gets much deeper. I just feel hopeless and feel like Im about to loose everything. Even with WC Im sure I will only end up with about half my pay because the cap is so low in Ms. Im sorry yall I know Im venting here and I know Im just getting started in this and so many of you have suffered for yrs...my prayers are with you all. Thanks |

Make sure that he is a Workers' Comp lawyer. It doesn't cost anything to have a consult with one. Do your home work and interview several before you make a decision. Good luck. |

RE: Just plain worried
Has anyone noticed how quick employers place an IW on FMLA, no matter how bad the injury. 12 weeks in the case of a serious injury and having surgery that they know will take longer to heal and the IW to return to work? Why? because they know that they can terminate you at the end of the 12 weeks!!!! and to cover themselves. as you are now a liability to the company.
Zest welcome to the forum and stick with us and we will try to get you through all this WC BS. There are many good people here that can answer your questions. and good luck. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: Just plain worried
Hi zest, I'm glad you found this forum. I would suggest talking to a lawyer, but in the meantime, so you have an insurance adjuster? If you can't get a hold of the adjuster, get a hold of thier supervisor. I had to do that a couple of times. When I did call the supervisor, things started moving a little faster. You should have already had a check if you haven't been back to work. I am wishing you the best of luck!
