RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
Hi Tuffy...it is too early to cry, but cry I did. As Americans no matter where we live or where we were when it happened or we first heard of it, WE will never forget that day. Living in NJ, I was very close to the situation about an hour away.. we lost 3 men from our neighborhood, and 2 of my staff nurses lost their husbands. One of the staff nurses husband was a firemen and he was off when the call came in and yet he rushed out with the group to do what he could. They are the real heros in all of this...they gave completely without hesitation.

I like Spring have always loved that Song and yet that day gave it new meaning. Thanks Tuffy for the reminder and thanks for always giving us the fun and inspirational videos etc. Red

RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
and yet 6 years later - many heroes are still losing their lives because of illnesses related to 9/11 and working at ground zero - lets not forget those heroes either on this day - Unfortunately - it's not just the fire department, policemen - but also those that helped - search and rescue, those that helped in the days and months following the tragedy the happened on this day.

So although there were 3000 victims on 9/11/2001 - that day continues to claim lives. Sad

RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
Pooh...you are so right. I was going to mention issues concerning their W/C claims. Many of them lived in NJ and worked in NY there fore their claims have had a lot of issues surrounding them. On the NJ W/C web site..you will see that they have a section for reviewing court cases, and there has been a lot of court rulings in the cases for both those who lost lives and those who were injured. You will find that even in this situation that many of our policemen and firemen that sustained ijuries and disabilities did not receive the healthcare they needed timely or that they were not paid etc. A lot of the cases are still being fought out in the court system. Now that is sad.. Red

RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
Actually red - I think AC Anderson or another show on CNN had something about just that this weekend. It was really a moving piece about the struggle of those that volunteered to help and those that were injured, lost their lives, etc because of the aftermath of 9/11. Not just from NJ and NY. There are some that went to NY to help from many states that are fighting the system - and it's sad that those that offered to help in the time of need are left out in the cold when the city asked for volunteers. It asked for fireman and policemen from other areas to come and help and yet once they did - they are forgotten.

Here is some of the stories short versions on line

RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
Met in the Stairwell

you say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news, Sept 11, 2001 Neither will I
I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called to his wife to say "Good-bye" I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, "Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK, I am ready to go."

I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd fl when a woman cried out to me for help. " I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!" I said. "Of course I will show you the way home-only believe on Me now."

I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devasted sould. I took him home to tend to his flock in heaven. He heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there. Comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.

I was in Texas, Kansas, London. I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense me? I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name, though they did NOT all know me. Some met me for the first time on the 100th fl. Some sought me out in their last breath. Some couldn't hear me calling to them throughout the smoke and flames, "Come to me...this way..take my hand." Some chose, for the final time, to ignore me, but I was there.

I did not place you in the tower that day-you may not know why, But I DO. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for ME? September 11, 2001 was the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. And I will be there for you as well. Seek ME now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are "ready to go." I will be in the stairwell of your final moment.

GOD

RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
Pooh..thank you for that. This system is the worst. All I can say is CWT never told the truth in NJ so why would she tell the truth about all of this..sad the way they are all being treated....and then you have the old major of the city making millions on the speaking circut..while you have all the heros being treated like this.. this is a shame... RE: 9/11 TRIBUTE
I remember working in the classroom that day. I had the kindergarten classroom. The principal would call each teacher to the office one at a time and share the tragic news.

Kindergarten was half day for the children and many of the children would arrive at school confused, knowing something had happened but not understanding what had happened.

We did not share the news with the children, it was not our place to share. The teachers and staff working that day trying their best to create a normal day for the children. Later that day the school went under security alert and we weren't able to go out on the play ground. We had the job of telling the children no recess today and no you didn't do anything wrong, it's just a day we can't go outside.
