Well here I go again...mesh erosion

Well here I go again...mesh erosion
I wasn't around for a couple of years as I didn't have any internet here in the boonies but while I was gone I had a complete hysterectomy in Aug of 2010 with a bladder suspension. Well I wound up with the wonderful mesh erosion problem...yay me, another to add to the list lol (really trying to make light of this in my monster way).

The doc tried to fix me in his office with a fun little procedure. He didn't bother to tell me that he was giving me a shot on what we will just call "the affected area" of I believe epinephrine that sent my heart skyrocketing in seconds. You kind of think they would warn you of things like that but maybe they do it so often they forget lol.

Anyway, I had what the docs are calling a "revision" surgery in Aug of 2011. He got as much of the mesh out as he could but he found tissue had already grown around a big percentage of it and my left side was extremely infected and inflamed.

I've been kind of researching the problems a little bit but yesterday was the last straw. I found that basically this petroleum based mesh was never actually fda tested. It's a long story but the pharmaceutical company crawled through a loophole in the system!!!! It doesn't take a rocket science to know that a petroleum based product will probably not do well in a human body. I thought I asked the right questions in the docs office before the surgery but evidently I didn't.

Anyway, I talked to two attorneys yesterday after mulling it over for almost a year and a
half. It hurts to sit, almost constant pelvic pain which is sometimes just an annoyance and sometimes quite painful. I hesitate to get in a serious relationship because something I've enjoyed my entire adult life can now be quite painful (yes, I'm talkin sex...don't shoot me or ban me please lol).

So anyway I signed with a Dallas attorney yesterday. He of course hasn't seen my medical records yet but he thinks I may have one of the more severe cases since I had to go through the office procedure less than 6 months afterwards and one revision already.

I know I have not had much info to offer y'all through the years but if you have never listened to anything else I have said please listen to this one thing ladies....DO NOT EVER ALLOW THEM TO USE THIS MESH IN YOUR BODY UNLESS IT IS A LAST RESORT FOR A SEVERE PROBLEM. I do not wish this on anyone and hope that maybe it will keep you or a loved one from going through what I and so many others are experiencing.

Sorry this was so long, you know I'm a long winded monster lol

Hope everyone is having a good day Smile

Sheesh GF...

And you talk about the pain I'm in. I can only guess at what you are going through. Hopefully, they will find a way to remove the remainder of the mesh without it leaving you with permanent problems.

Thanks Angel, only time will tell. But yes, I do think you're in an incredible amount of pain. The last 3 days I guess it's my arthritis that's kicked in but now it's gone to my ankles and feet as well. Been all I could do to walk the dogs. I know we need the rain but I need for it to hurry up and rain and go away for a bit lol. I think you're getting up there too so I hope you're doing okay.

RE: Well here I go again...mesh erosion
Yeah..we've finally been getting our share of rain. But it's not enough to take us off of watering restrictions, nor bring up the levels of water in the reservoirs. And unfortunately, it's a little to late to help the farmers who have lost most of their crops for the 2nd year in a row.

With the weather system the way it's been... high and low pressure rolling through 2 or 3 times a day, my pain has been increased. And my feet and ankles have swelled so much that I can barely walk on them, let alone try to get shoes on to get out and drive (Dr's appointments and grocery shopping). I think this morning is the first day in over a week I have woken to them not being swollen. And luckily, I have a stash of extra pain meds for times like the past week so I can take a few extra and not come up short in my count when I see my pain management Dr monthly.

Let me know when you are going to be up here in my neck of the woods. I definitely want to get together with you, even if it means my coming to you and taking you out to lunch or something along that line. I know you have my cell #.

RE: Well here I go again...mesh erosion
Glad to hear you're getting some rain but sorry about the pain levels. We should all get together and buy a big piece of land in the desert where we would all hurt a little less.

My dads appt is today but I may not hear from him til he gets home tomorrow.

Furbabies are doing their potty walk lol. Talk to you soon,
