EMG test
Is it a good idea to have the same Dr. treating you to do the EMG test? I'm just wondering if others had the same Dr. do? He is a Dr. of Physical medicine & rehabilitation..
Thanks for any input.. |

I was refered to a pain dr who just wanted to give me a scs, said it was just my pelvis and hip causing my pains in the low back that leeds to my left hip......(also lots of hardware there).. He then refered me back to my treating dr for the emg... |

RE: EMG test
bronco - I was just looking thru some articles earlier and it said it recommended for another dr outside your treating to do.. Guess i'm just being paranoid... but i just want to ensure i get the proper treatment for my care... Plus I have very little confidence in this dr anyway so that definitely doesn't help..

I hear ya, one must feel comfortable with his/her dr and have trust within them.. I had a long list of drs for my injury, and wc wanted me to pick 1 dr from my area to direct all my care... My ncm was upset when I picked a dr she had not known, he is a phisitrist (spelling).. He was the gate keeper and all my drs went through him and all records went to him.. After 4 yrs of having faith in him he started getting wierd about things, I lost the trust so I talked to my primary family dr and he agreed to take over... I still have my injury dr but only as needed......... |

RE: EMG test
My main reason of lost trust is the first visit he stated I don't even know why you are seeing me... i'm just gonna do a brief physical and recommend epidural steriod injections..
I mean that is just not very comforting when a dr tells you that. And the day of my injection I was the last patient that day. They forgot I was out there to get an injection done so had to get the room back ready.. And afterwards a nurse there stated that she had never got medication switched like that before.. So as you can tell my lack of trust has definitely gone out the window... |

RE: EMG test
Almost every time I went for injections I was thier last victim...lol....of the day.. I had a bad case of mrsa when I was hospialized for 2 months from injury... Ever since that it has been a red flag for medical treatment, and still continues though I have been swabbed 2 times and came back negative... Hopefully things will get better for your treatment needs......

RE: EMG test
Well I just got back. He stated that he is referring me back to my orthropedic surgeon since all other "conservative" treatment hasn't done anything. He did say that he did not think I was a canidate for ANY type of surgery. But he explained in some detail that disc degeneration causes pain and can intermittingly cause the leg to go numb and have pins & needles feeling due to the nerve root endings in the nucleas of disc. He also stated that the "rubbing" feeling I feel in my back is osteoarthritis of the face joints from disc degeneration.. And that maybe my orthropedic surgeon can refer me to pain management to try and aid in making me comfortable as he can see the amount of pain I'm in.
But he stated that he did not think I was a surgical canidate as well as my nurse case manager... I just hope someone can figure out something, I'm so confused I go from one dr whom said try conservative treatment before surgery, to a dr that says if this doesn't work you will have to have surgery, get a nurse case manager and now both dr's say that surgery is not needed??? I'm just soo confused... Did anyone else experience this kinda thing during treatment... The codes on the bottom of my sheet are as follows in case anyone can make anything out of them. 847.2 , 724.4 , 729.5 . Thanks again in advance for any response. |

RE: EMG test
Those are medical codes. 847.2 = lumbar sprain/strain, 724.4 = thorasic or lumbosacral neuritis or radiculitis, 729.5 = pain in limb.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: EMG test
AQA - does the 724.4 mean nerve damage? I sooooo hope not... As they made sure the appt. was ASAP? just worried & confused I guess.. But I guess when we are hurting and don't understand we all are...

RE: EMG test
MMMMMMMMMMM NO. MMMMMMMMMM YES
Radiculitis = a problem with a nerve ( either sensory or motion ). I am about to split hairs with you. The nerve could be inflammed, does that equal damaged??? The nerve could be irritatated, does that equal damaged????? The nerve could be impinged, does that equal damaged?????? There are several things that can happen to the nerves in the body and they do not damage the nerve. On the other hand, there are also things that can happen and damage the nerve. Such as an impingement, if the nerve is impinged for long enough. It will no regenerate (come back to normal). 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |
