And that makes this a very thick bally-wick.

That's the evidence that should be used if there is an injury and the claim is denied. anything that shows the that the employer saw these offsite breaks as part of the job would bring it under coverage. supervisors knowledge and participation often makes such activity "authorized" for comp purposes.
unfortunately there is no way to tell beforehand how the claim will be handled.
