RE: Knee injury nightmare
My hubby has a prepaid legal thing through his work, so I called them asking about getting a new doc. The attorney I talked to said that they aren't required by law to give me another one, but they "should". Well, duh.

I sent a formal, written notice just now to my employer asking to be able to select a new doc, since I wasn't allowed to choose from the panel for the first one. I guess we'll see...

RE: Knee injury nightmare
Yes the attorney is correct by law they do not have to honor the request, however when I contacted the state earlier in the week a/b my case they said that normally the I/C will let you change only once thats it...

But as far as your husbands prepaid legal,,, make sure if you are using them to represent you they do do workers compensation cases. As it is a COMPLEX system... My attorney is nashville.. His name is Donald Z. You can figure it out from there i'm sure... They are very kind and understanding and always made time to listen to me.. Just an idea...

Well I do hope all works out for you.

RE: Knee injury nightmare
I got the call today and they are letting me change ortho docs! I was given the names of three docs to choose from. One is in Lebanon, TN and the other two are in Nashville, TN. I understand I can't post the names here, but if anyone knows anything about docs in those areas, please PM me and I'll tell you the names to see if you know of them. I'm googling them and researching.

RE: Knee injury nightmare
Just remember the one that is the closest and most convient may not be the best.. Do research on alot of different dr's in the Nashville area that specialize in your injury and they see if they are on the panel. Remember the 3 they gave you could / could not be the 3 they want you to go to. And from my understanding this would be your last choice of Dr's.... Unless the law has changed.... But I am happy they are letting you change...

RE: Knee injury nightmare
Still waiting on the appointment with the new doc, but I just got a call from a nurse case manager who has been assigned to the case "to help me". Good grief.....

RE: Knee injury nightmare
I can tell you from experience of mine... No good as come from my case manager... As I have since she came in been rushed into appts and now in extreme pain and now no dr will give me anything for pain. So i'm using just basic meds. advil, etc to try to help but nothing. plus using a heating pad on my back to aid in the pain relief some.. I do hope that you do not have the same experience that I have.

Good Luck..

RE: Knee injury nightmare
Why won't they give you pain meds? My Lorcet 10 is all that's getting me through the days at this point!

They said b/c they do not know what is causing the pain... Like I said prior to my case manager I got my meds, and the other dr was going to send me to pain management but when she came onboard that all got stopped...

Plus in Tn they can only give narcotics for so long then you have to go to pain management, and from what I've heard its not cheap and I figure that is why I've not been referred... Not sure though...
