I had an interview this morning and it went well until this question. Your former employer states that you're not considered re-hireable, can you tell me why.

My answer and I wasn't 100% certain and I told her that..."Perhaps an unwritten policy that states that they don't re-hire people who can't return to work after exhausting FMLA and GML."

That answer floored her, she basically said that that policy if there is one is unfair.

Good answer BB, Its just wrong that a previous employer says things like that.. I would think they should be happy to see an injured ex employee regain and find employment, why in the hell do they have to black ball people...

It's a pretty common question in the medical field. I had gone thru over and over in my head a series of questions that this employer might ask. This one did floor me for a second and only for a second. Just this weekend I was talking to my husband and wishing that I could state something just like I was asked. I don't know why my previous employer is like this, the other major medical employer has black listed me due to my non-rehireable status. It's crap.

But...I got a call this afternoon, they are going thru with the background and credentials check. Who knows come this time next week I might be once again gainfully employed in the medical field. Not quite the job I went to college for but it's in surgery and there's a good chance that I could get back into scrubbing surgery.
