No longer an I.W.
Gave myself a promotion to R.I.W. Recovering Injured Worker.
Doesn't this sound more positive? I've always hated being stuck in a one-for-all classification that goes no where. It's actually depressing. I think even the dumbest of the WC participants can remember this. Just add an R in front of I.W. when an employee reaches MMI Maximum Medical Improvement. I'm going to start right away to retrain my "team" of my new "positive" title. That includes my AA, DA, PTP, TP's, PCP, IC, CA, TPA, JPA, WCJ, NCM, BCBS, ES, AME, PQME. In some cases you might want to add a DA in front your team's various abbreviated title. For instance a CA Claims adjuster can easily be referred to as a DACA, or the DA Defense Attorney to a DADA. DA Dumb Ass fits in front of all these titles and can be easily interchanged. Seriously though, if there were no IW's, would there even be a WC System? Think of how many people depend on IW's to make a living, and in most cases, a darn good living! So why are we the piece of the maze that always get screwed over? Isn't the system meant to medically treat IW's, so they can Recover and hopefully RTW? DA Broken System! Join me in becoming an R.I.W., that is unless you want to stay an I.W.F. Injured Worker Forever.

RE: No longer an I.W.
No Bronco, the R.I.P. is for the insurance adjusters and most case managers.

RE: No longer an I.W.
Chrischris I guess I am now a RIW to. I am now MMi and in my 11 yr of the system. My attorney was contacted back in Nov. last year, wanting to know if I was intestered in setteling. They wanted a dollar amount. We gave them one. Did not hear from them untill early May. They want to settle the indemnity and future medical. They have had a company work up a Medicare Set Aside amount... Their attorney things it is a low amount so they are having another company look at it now. They want to buy an annunity for the MSA...for me. in the amount of 157000.00 for future medical. The indemnity amount they are offering is about half the MSA dollars. LOW BALL... That ain't going to work...But at least it is being looked at after 11 years now.
Put me in your class of RIW. Cervical Fusion 2003, c5-c6. Herniated and damaged Disc L1- L4-L5 S1. Lumbar Spinal Cord stimulator implant 09-2008. Cervical ACDF revision with hardware c4-c5-c6-c7 Sept 2009. SSDI approved 3-2010. NOW OFFICIALY RETIRED |

RE: No longer an I.W.
Admin, I just saw from your blog intro that we are going to be at the same place during the same time in November, except for different reasons. Would love to become a fly on the wall during your talk. So please don't swat any pesty flies, just in case I can work this out. LOL!
