could i be in trouble here
In florida, a year before my injury i was loading my van and messed up my back pretty bad went in to my two bosses and told them what happened. Both of their replies were "what are you going to do,do you want to take the day off". We were constantly told not to file WC. So i left and went to my personal doc she made me get a mri. 3 bulging discs in lower back. I only had a weeks vacation left so i took it and went back to work suffering for a while. So when it happened again a year later i thought if i could just get through the first week id be fine and thats how i really screwed myself up continuing to lift 100 lbs all day.so i made them fill out WC forms because money was too tight to pay out of pocket again, and they weren't happy. My problem is i just got a letter from a business that collects wrongfully paid medical money for insurance companies. Their website says theyve recovered the most money for insurance companies and they want to know about the first incident when i used my personal health insurance(they're representing them) instead of WC. Im pretty sure my work could get in trouble but is there anything they could do to me? I haven't contacted them yet and should i? Thanks for any help on this its a new one to me.

RE: could i be in trouble here
When it first happened my bosses had me call a few docs from the office but i kept saying how it happened and they all wanted WC papers or they wouldnt see me. My bosses never offered or even implied that i could file WC, and ive never had dealt with WC. The feww times i was hurt at this job prior my boss has met me at the ER with the companies AMEX card to pay for stitches and cast. Maybe a bit niave, but i thought this was normal. I told my doc how it happened and not being able to get help and i think she felt bad seeing my condition so she helped. Any of those docs could've said something, but why 2 years later, so as of now I'm pretending i didn't receive it.

RE: could i be in trouble here
I had a similiar instance happen to me as well. Got hurt at work, my boss / owner wouldn't call it in to workers comp. because it thought it was "minor" and since he paid my personal medical. I just told the truth and finally when I was referred to a specialist the lady there made them call of she was going to report them.

Just make sure you state the facts and tell the truth and you will be fine! Also good luck.

Same thing happened to me took my employer over a week to call in because they didn't really think was serious... But the W/C worker at the DR. office put the fear of GOD in them...

I would follow up with them, but if they did call it in normally the W/C insurance company will call and get some type of statement..

Once again tell the truth a/b it all and good luck..
