RE: Steroid Injections
Watch that headache, if it continues you will need to contact the doctor who did the injection.

RE: Steroid Injections
Yes what are you taking your meds with? I was drinking soda all day long for months before it happened to me. I now take meds with chocolate milk then water all day. Water used to give me heartburn! Alot more water will help with snappin one too. Headaches could be meds what are you taking? Im not saying you are but Its easy to take more than prescribed to mask the pain but it causes side effects

RE: Steroid Injections
I had a migraine after the injections which they said was a side effect from it.They referred to it as a spinal headache. If it doesnt get better soon contact the office that gave you the injections. With the constipation and the acid reflux that is possibly caused from the hydrocodone you are taking.I hope you feel better soon!

RE: Steroid Injections
@ bummer knees my headache has been constant for a while now. Seems a lil worse since the injection. I called the dr this morning and his nurse said if wasn't gone in a few days to call back

@ jayc. I have had any pain mess in like 2 weeks. He gave me a prescription for Tramadol but I haven't taken any yet due to all the stuff I'm going they right now. And no the pain meds I normally on took at night only to try to help me sleep bc it really didn't take the pain away just the "edge" off but I haven't took any of the other yet.

@ Brwneye I haven't took any pain meds in a few weeks the new pain meds he gave me I'm afraid to talke until I can have a bowel movement. I've never had any problems before and all of this is a lil scary.

I do appreciate all of your response and thoughts it does mean a lot to me. That is why I think these type of forums can help others from each others experience / knowledge.

RE: Steroid Injections
Oh sorry I didnt realize you havent taken any pain medications cause thats usually the first thing you think about when having constipation. My doctor told me since I have nerve damage from my back injury it contributes to my loss of bladder control and the inability to have a bowel movement.I thought it was due to my pain meds at first also but since I havent been able to locate a new treating doctor I havent been on any meds for 3 months and still have the same issues.

RE: Steroid Injections
Yeah today still have a migraine... Ugh sucks.

One thing I was wondering after doing some research a/b this procedure ( which I should have done prior to having ) is that some people get an IV of some type of medication? They did install a needle for an IV and when I asked what that was for they told me in case I had an allergic reaction to something.. Also read that they should give you a pain diary? I literally was there approx. 30 min. total. They checked my vital signs, rolled me back into the room where the xray machine was, switched me to another bed to lay on, gave me numbing medicine in my back, injection of dye, then the epidural injection.. Swapped back to the original bed, rolled out of room, checked my vital signs and released.

Has / did anyone else get an IV prior to procedure and a "pain" diary ( what ever that is )?

Yeah i'm afraid to take the new medicine as well bc I'm trying to see if my body will "catch" up to itself, and also that way I can rule out if its the medicine causing my problems or something else....

RE: Steroid Injections
I have the same symptoms, I took a hard fall in Apr 2011 while moving a 3000lb pallet and my feet slipped out from under me while pulling on a pallet jack and landed on my butt.

Had the same pain, lower back, and my right hip, down my right leg into my foot..constant, got 16 x-rays from 2 different Dr`s, then sent to a back specialist who saw that my right leg and foot had lost all strength, so sent me to a back surgeon, (WC was informed on all these decisions) and after 2 MRI`s, 2 round of steriod injections (which lasted only a few weeks each on me) surgeon reccommended surgery to releive the pinched siatic nerve that was causing the pain in my hip and right leg and foot..
I too was told I had DDD, but I`m 63 and have never had back problems in my life. I also had a herniated disk and 3 buldging disks, and the surgeon suggested a bi-latteral L4 L5 decompression to relieve the pinched nerve afecting my right leg and foot..
This has seemed to help but did Not help my lower back pain which I am in constantly..I did all the PT and even had my FCE and have been released to return to work with permenant restrictions, (I`m a truck driver for an LTL carrier) and I will Not be able to drive a truck again, have 25lb lifting limits along with sitting and standing restrictions. Not sure if employer will take me back, I`m kinda in limbo right now, but WC is still paying me my weekly checks so I`m just waiting to see if employer takes me back or not..
The good thing about my case, is I have 2 good witnesses, my delivery was at a church and I took my fall in front of 2 women that worked there..
WC will do whatever they can to not be liable, so if you have witnesses to the cause of your injury I think that would work in your favor..
I know I will not be compensated as well as I want to be since my life has drasticly changed due to this injury, but just keep at it and like another posters said, aim high when it comes to your settlement...Luckily my WC has been very good with me and has approved all..I gotta give them that...

RE: Steroid Injections
@ Road - yes this injury is defintely taking a toll on me as well. I'm so used to being out on the go 24 / 7 and now its a task just to ride the lawn mower to mow grass. And to weedeat the yard ha ha ha... I can barely pick up the weedeater and then when I do its sharp pain..

But hopefully all will go well with these injections....

So far this is day 3 after injections, and I still have problems with my bowel movements, (worse since injections) taking laxatives now for that, have constant hiccups and burping unless I lay down on my side they will stop a/b 45 min - 1 hr after laying down. Extreme headaches ( still ) had prior to my injections but the injections definetely did not help..

Its just a very difficult process especially for me I'm 30 y/o hardly ever get sick, and now very immobile... I just feel like someone has took a part of me away... I just have faith that it will all work out and hopefully soon, so I can move on with my future and put this behind me..

Thanks again for any advice in advance..

RE: Steroid Injections
@Hurt Back...
I never got the headaches from the steroid injections, but did get the constapation from the hydrocodone I was taking...Take stool softners everyday, that seemed to work for me..
My life is pretty much on hold now as well, I`ve had trouble sleeping since my injury, sometimes not sleeping at all. They gave me sleeping pills for that, they work sometimes, sometimes they don`t, just nothing the same now it seems..
If you hip and leg continue to hurt, ask your Dr about a Decompression surgery for your damaged L4 L5...helped with me as the pain is gone from my right side of my butt, down the right side of my leg and foot, but right leg is still weaker than the right...Lower back pain is still there and will probably have to live with it..Dr suggested a fusion to help with back pain, but also said that in 3-4yrs I would need another one..I`m just too old to go thru that..
Good luck and hope the injections help..

RE: Steroid Injections
@ Road,

My Dr. informed me Monday that after these shots if this didn't take care of my pain then surgery was the only other option...

I have severe lower back pain, that radiates to hips, and pain down my left leg to my foot and has that pins and needles effect..

Like I said before, not very comfortable, and really wish I could get back to "normal".. I hate taking pills, but now I have to take medicine for acid reflux, bowel movements, and nausea.... Just flat out sucks!
