Upper/ Lower Back. Isnt it all connected??

I work for a large company that uses **no names please** for workers comp. I hurt my upper back Feb. 2011 and saw doctors on and off again until Feb. 2012 when I started getting bad lower back pain from overcompensating for my upper back issues. I went to my employer and they opened my case again and I went to the doctor. I saw a orthopedist and a physical therapist both of which didn't help. The orthopedist referred me to a pain management dr for shots to relieve the pain. I just received a call from the orthopedist saying that workers comp is refusing to pay for anything related to my lower back because I didnt fill out a accident report for it. What should I do?

workers comp is not health insurance; it only treats the injury not the body.

Your state is needed for more info... Yes it may be all connected but in terms of the wc ins to cover it has to be linked..

Great question. One I'm not sure of how to answer.

In my case I had several body parts that were entered into my claim. My WC doc according to my lawyer did me a huge favor as on medical legal everything says back. So according to him my whole back is covered even though majority of my pain is lower back and neck.

Double check your records. Maybe you have something the same.

Do you have an attorney? Sounds like you might need one, or to at least have a free consult to figure out what you need to do next.

AS mentioned before, your state is needed to be known. Different states have different rules and laws.

I believe you will need to file another wc. injury report. You can not make the determination that the lower back is related to the upper back injury. That will take medical documentation.

I think one of the things 1171 was refering to was the post titled "if i settled".
