Smile Some hummingbirds for my family
Here are some pics I took this afternoon. I think most are in focus, there might be one or two a bit blurry so it's not your eyes, just my poor photography, LOL

This one looks like something out of a horror flick, LOL

RE: Some hummingbirds for my family
Red, I upload mine to photobucket.com, do you do something like that? Then I use that one that says something about 'clickable thumbnails for message boards.' I was worried about taking up admins server space, but he wrote and said that since I go through photobucket it takes none of our server space here. I can only load 5 pics at once which includes any of the smiley faces as well. I'm not sure if that answer helped you or not, if it didn't we might have to ask Winky or I will try again.

Glad you liked the pics. We started with a pair and now have 7 or 8. I went out on the patio yesterday right before sunset. I was wearing a bright red tank top and they were zipping all around me fighting. Was afraid I was going to get a beak in the eye a few times but they are so fun to watch. I put a second feeder up but may have to put more out. My dad said I have to take them down when it starts getting cool out so that they will migrate to where ever they go. If they stay here they will freeze...

RE: Some hummingbirds for my family
Monster, if you move the feeders where the little meanies can't see them from one spot they will share better. That one looks like a female black-chinned hummer. I have those here and rufous hummers that look like bright copper pennys in the sun, and Calliope hummers that have like an American flag under their throat. The calliopes aere the smallest of all hummers. I really got into bird feeding/watching when I got hurt, cause I couldn't walk, so hubby got me a book and some binoculars, so I could watch from house. We had a fox in side yard today like 20 feet from house. I think being out here in country keeps me closer to God.

RE: Some hummingbirds for my family
Wow Sithie you know your birds girl Smile I hadn't even thought about getting a book. We do have one that is copper colored on his neck and back I think. They fly so fast I can't keep track of them. I thought the plain colored ones were just babies who hadn't got their pretty colors yet, or females who might not get much color.

Ooooh, oooh, oooh, I want a fox!!! That would be so cool Smile do you have a camera and maybe you could take a pic of him as long as it wouldn't hurt you??? Please don't hurt you over it, I don't want to be the cause of anyone's pain especially over a picture okay???

RE: Some hummingbirds for my family
Thank you Sithie. The ones with the copper colored markings are the ones that are so agressive and causing all the fights so maybe that is what I have. Am looking for links to plumie flowers for you right now Smile

RE: Some hummingbirds for my family
Thanks for the pic Sithie, it wasn't there earlier. I think two of mine have some copper markings but they aren't nearly that pretty unless they just haven't matured yet. Thank you for taking the time to find the pic and I can hardly wait to see your puppies and their birthday cake, LOL Smile

Sweet - Hooter lookers, ROFL....I like to watch the quail, we have absolutely HUGE quail out here, I guess becuase no one hunts them out here Smile I will try and get a pic oone of these days. Now that part of my yard is fenced where the dogs can't go in I am getting dove and probably the quail as well. I just hope I don't get gophers again. We used to have woodpeckers here but I haven't seen one for awhile. They take a bird census here I think once maybe twice a year in the Joshua Tree national monument. We get alot of the migratory birds as I guess this is on the way to wherever they are going Smile

RE: Some hummingbirds for my family
Sithie, I am so amazed. Everyday I find out simple little but loving things about all of you that is so amazing. I have never been a bird watcher and I don't know much about them, but I have always been amazed at the activity you see between the two or more different birds. They are absolutely adorable in the sky.

sweet tooth...it sounds like you have absolutely adorable daughters. Everytime you mention them, I wonder how old they are and if they would have been in Camp with me...if we had all lived in the same state.

Monster...is there any thing that you don't do. You take great pictures, you raise beautiful flowers, and you watch birds. Wow...you are one busy monster. I have visited the joshua tree before...use to drive 66 from palm springs to las vegas also many times a year.... you do live in dry country, but my daughter loved it when she lived there.
