RE: Concerned in Maryland
If its sedentary you can still stand if you need to from time to time. You get breaks and lunch.. Plus walking to restroom/get water etc.
Maybe start at a part time job and see how that goes? I live in CA, it's not always sunny... And the Workers Comp sucks!

RE: Concerned in Maryland
Ok, next concern I have filed for Social Security Disability, If I take the vocational rehab will that effect the disability determination? I know I can't work but the only way I could get any checks started till SSD came in was to try the voc rehab. My thoughts are to try and maintain voc rehab and a steady check till SSD kicked in then drop it and settle my claim with workers compensation. I'm pretty sure my SSD will be approved by my multiple surgeries I still have a 13mm herniation and moderate to marked spinal stenosis, plus my age 55. Any thoughts on that?

RE: Concerned in Maryland
SSDI requires you to be disabled from all work.
if you can work, or are working, you would not qualify. more here http://www.nosscr.org/faq.html |

RE: Concerned in Maryland
I understand that but at this time I have no choice but to go to vocational rehab. so that I have a check coming in and voc. rehab. is not working. Also SSDI has a period that your allowed to try and work I believe its 9 mths.

RE: Concerned in Maryland
Backagain don't give up.
The pain right now is miserable and its all you can think about. (I am just starting pain management myself so I understand). You may not be able to work now but who knows what can happen in a few months? My friend is on the right amount of meds for her back condition and she is working again. (a different job) It was a slow process but once she got back to work she found a sense of purpose in her life again and she has a great attitude again |
