RE: Medication advice
I agree with all of the above, we do have to move forward even if it is a little at a time... I have never involved the attorney about my meds, and the only reason I can see involving them if the ins was denying refills.. I have always made all my appoinments and called the ins if somthing wasnt right.. But I also had confirmed with attorney if I wasnt sure of the propper steps to take.....
As we all know pain can be very powerfull, I've been there and am still there but I have curved the way i take them.. There are days I think I cant do it anymore, but then there are days I can... I have a purpose, I have Dominick now and its hard at times but he needs my fullest attention.. So very seldom do i take somthing for pain unless my oldest or my wife is home... |

RE: Medication advice
The attorney first got involved with his pain meds when they werent being approved as they should. Also when he was he was told by the Dr he wouldnt make a appt for him. My husband doesn't deal well with people. I handle most things. His attorney does a lot as well. His attorney is actually great and goes above and beyond what most do. Now that I know he can change drs we will do that. His appt is in a month and I have already scheduled the day off to go to the appt.
This Dr is listed as a physical medicine/rehabilitationist. From what I can tell, that just means spends 10 minutes with you and then refill meds by phone. I agree he is a quack. My husband agrees as well. my husbands depression is much better. The Winter was rough on him. It was mild but I think it was a wakeup call to him as what to expect. He is getting out more. He wants to go to a ballgame and I plan on surprising him with tickets and taking the day off. He rarely makes request so its the least I can do. |

His appt is in a month and I have already scheduled the day off to go to the appt. I very seldom see my PM doctor anymore. My meds are "steady" but if I need him, He will be there. I still am required to go monthly to pick up my prescription for sch 2 Narcotics. It is extremely difficult to have a descent relationship with many PM Doctors. Most are so reluctant to give sch 2 Narcotics because of "abusers". It makes a IW like me feel low when I am seemingly compared to a addict. Get him up and about. This will help him mentally and physically. Many IW's put on the pounds causing even more medical issues. I have lost a lot of weight and I feel much better physically and mentally. When I was operated on in 2006, I was described as Morbidly Obese which is a kind word for a extreme fat ass. LOL Exercise and getting away to change the environment is a great tool. I wish you the best of Luck. I made life difficult on my wife for many years and thru it all she stood by my side. Finally in 2010, I came to reality that I am what I am and to make the best of it. My neurosurgeon told me some words I will never forget and I quote; Do not dwell on what you cannot do; Dwell on the things you can do. The mind is a powerful tool and we control it with our thoughts. |

RE: Medication advice
At my last appointment with my PM "I" suggested maybe trying another round of spinal injections. I figure if it just takes a little of my pain away (temporary I know) I can hold hold off on getting the Morphine patches. And wouldn't you know it just as the doctor put the request into the IC she now has me scheduled for an IME. I can only think to try and lower my weekly payments. It has been about a year since my last one so I don't know if it's automatic to have a yearly IME when on Permanent disability or if "I woke up a sleeping dog"
![]() Good news is after calling the IC she agreed to approve the injections otherwise it would have been the end of May. I would have jumped off a bridge by then Thanks for listening people, Hoping everyone a pain free day Take Care and Be Well Tom |

RE: Medication advice
jayc ~ I am going for Cervical epidurals. They must be somewhat different than what you had. I go for a sedated single injection once a month for 3 months. The series is only done once a year. I have had them in the past with little if any relief but since it has been a couple of years for me I figure I'll give it a go. I have tried Botox injections which are like you describe, numerous shots throughout my neck and back of head on several occasions.
Bummer ~ Good luck to you and I hope they help Take Care and Be Well Tom |

RE: Medication advice
OK My week just got even worse. I received notice that my year old NYS WC case is "RESOLVED" for a full board review. What does this mean and how long does it usually take?
Thanks in advance Take Care and Be Well Tom |
