RE: Question about Loratab
I also use a Jacuzzi with Hydrotherapy jets and a Tens unit. Both are Temporary relief but Lortab may last 4 hours.
Now, There are Controlled released narcotics that will give you relief all day. I use a Fentanyl Patch which provides 24 hour pain relief that I change every 2 days and Hydrocodone for break through pain when the Fentanyl Patch "needs a little assistance" such as a day with the Grand kids. The Fentanyl Patch works well for me but I did feel "weird, spaced out" the 1st 2 weeks but now I have overcome that issue.

I do not feel I can get enough pain relief without Narcotics. They do give me quality of life compare to not using just outward therapy like a tens unit or a Jacuzzi.

Narcotics at first tak sometime to adjust mentally. They can make you feel "funny" but that will go away with time. IF your situation is such that the Pain takes away from your Quality of Life 24 Hours a day, I would look at a sch 2 Narcotic that is Controlled/Extended Release. You will become dependant of these Narcotics meaning you will eventually start graving the drug if you miss a dose. Withdrawals really suck. Hydocodone withdrawals are Horrible.
Just be careful. Doctors are extremely reluctant to prescribe a sch 2 narcotic because they are very popular street drugs. Lortab is sch 3 but we have big issues with this drug locally.

All pain meds tell the Brain to shut off the pain. Some are more powerful like Percocet which has acetaminophen and oxycodone where Lortab contains Hydrocodone and acetaminophen.

Neither really heal the pain; they alter the Brains thinking.

How do narcotics work?

Pain receptors are found in your brain. Pain receptors receive messages about pain from the nerves in your body. When the message arrives, you are aware that you are having pain. Narcotics work by stopping you from getting the message that you are having pain.

RE: Question about Loratab
I am one who uses a tens unit, keeps me out of the ER.

Must admit after taking the Loratab yesterday I was feeling pretty good, all that for nothing as surgery was scheduled instead of having the injection.
