It's a same that the insurance company take our money every month but when you need them that don't want to help.

I am sorry about your brother. I hope that he is fine. Was he working in New Jersey? What was he doing during the 15 months? Was he at least working on a modify duty?

San Antonio, he was home the entire time, unable to work. He's retired from the force now, back healed just fine, it just should of never of taken that long.

The only good thing out of it was that he got the maximum amount of payout that the state allows.

Good for him. If you don't mind what is your state maximum?

It is illegal for the employer to deduct or charge employees for workers compensation insurance premiums.

Sorry for the misunderstanding after I read it again I realize what it sounded like. However I was talking about insurance companies in general.

RE: 3 Weeks since I seen the IC dotor
While after the long wait for the approval for a discogram the IC requested that the doctor to do an EMG. This was done the past Friday (3/16/12).

The EMG doctor told me that I had a pinch nerve around L5 & S1. I will go back to the IC specialist on this Thursday to see what the next step will be.

Does anyone think that surgery will be a good option for this? I have read different reviews about having surgery. At times I am in really bad pain especially when I am standing or walking for sometime. I will rate this pain as 7 or 8 from a scale from 1-10

Also the EMG doctor had rated it on a scale from 1-10 it being around 3 0r 4. I had explain to him the the pain get wrost during the day when I am on my feet and moving around.

before having surgery get a second medical opinion; it should be the last treatment option that's tried.

After speaking with the WC doctor & my personal doctor I will have the surgery. My personal docotor told me that since PT nor injections help then I may have to live with the pain, try meds (in which I've already tried several) or have surgery.

The WC doctor told me that it would be a minimal invasive surgery with a 5% chance of failure. Does this percentage sound right?

no, but it appears that you've had another doctor's opinion.
you can still search the web for the procedure and become aware of the complications and risk factors. you need to have an idea of the recovery time and post-operative care.
an informed patient is often a help to surgeon.

It's a spinal fusion between L4-L5. The reason is a pinched nerve caused by a bulging disk.

im having that done on 4-18(L4-L5) and in my eyes is not minimally invasive(through the stomach) and 5% failure is wrong.theres alot going on there. the discs theyre fused to need to be good (mine is being fused to a bulging disc, why?idk) plus it DOES degenerate the discs theyre fused to so look into a little more before you make your decision. spine.org is a good site for info. good luck
