Special Date on Valentines Day
Yep, I get to have the trial scs implanted on the 14th in Ft Worth TX. Thankfully my son is available to drive me home. I guess a week later I will have it removed and decide if I want it implanted permanently.
I am on my 2nd month of chantix, not that the first month did me much good when either the Dr or the insurance company screwed up the scrip. I was only approved for the first months worth, then had to wait 2 weeks for them to get things straightened out and get the scrip corrected and have me set up for a third month as well. I am also using an electronic cigarette in conjunction with the chantix and should be smoke free by the end of this week. When I saw my PM Dr on the 20th of last month, the rep from EMPI was there setting up some of his patients with TENS units. We decided to try one on me legs (for the RSD/CRPS) and it has done wonders. I have also used it on my cervical spine for the problems in my right arm, and am having less pain in it now, as well as in the left arm for the problems with the ulnar nerve. Still have no feeling in the little finger up the outside of my hand, but can finally feel with the ring finger and middle part of hand up to my wrist where I couldn't before. So I think for now, I am going to hold off on the 3 level ACDF the neuro is wanting to do. That is, long enough for me to try the back to work program through SSDI. We have a large call center here that works with SSDI on the program and it pays well over minimum wage. If I can handle working again, I will be taking 2 seperate courses geared towards starting my own business and getting me off of SSDI. The first is to become a mobile notary public in conjunction with the 2nd, which is becoming an SSDI advocate working out of my own home. It will mean converting the spare bedroom into a home office, but if the back to work program works for me, I will be totally out of debt on less than 2 months, and can pay for the 2 courses after 2 more months of working and saving. Which means, by the end of summer, I could be my own boss. Of course, I will have to check into good insurance for myself that all of my current Dr's will accept, as I don't want to start over from scratch again. And the biggest thing of all.. it opens the door for Randy and I to finally tie the knot and make our union legal. He put the wedding ring on my finger just over 4 months ago... we just need the paper to file with the court to say we are man and wife. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

RE: Special Date on Valentines Day
Congrats Becky thigs cound good for you and Randy!
Last year on Valentine's Day I had the ACDF, I was scheduled for the end of the day but a couple of days before surgery the neurosurgeon's nurse called to inform me my surgery was scheduled first thing in the morning. It seems everyone scheduled before me that day cancelled surgery, must not have been a popular day for surgery. I have a tens unit and use it on the neck & back, most the time it is a big help. The auto insurance company purchased the tens unit after the auto accident. Recently I purchased a second tens unit from an individual for $20.00, this one is also and EMPI and works great. I just wanted a backup. In 1991 I was received trainning under the Zebley Decision as an SSI Advocate. My job was to do intake assisting parents of disabled children with the SSI process and completing intake forms as well as working with the local SSA office. I was trained by Social Security Administration and US Department of Justice. I very much enjoyed this job working with the families! |

RE: Special Date on Valentines Day
UA good luck with the SCS trial I have had mine for my lumbar (it is implanted in my right hip) i do not pay any atention to it being there any more. I have had mine sine 2009. It help tremendously at times and other times it does not . I was offerd one back in the fall last year to be implanted in myneck area for the cervical, i at the time refused to have another one implanted, just kind of scares me to think I may be walking around with 2 in my body. Just think it would scare me, but the option is still their if i decide to go that way at a later date. Is yours cervical or lumbar. Good luck with the trial and hope you do some relief with it....
