Undercover Angel I am worried about you today!

Jayne, Monster, AQA, and our other wc friends from the above states please pay attention to the weather today.

Our threat for tornadoes at the moment is over. I have a NOA weather radio sitting beside me and it has been on through out the night. Our high of 71 came some time after midnight and it is currently 57, windy, wet and very hard on the body.

Even at that, Randy is the severe weather monitor for all of the WFISD and gets to play on the computer on days like this rather than spend all day with his students. So I know if anything bad were coming, to expect a call from him long before the sirens would go off. And they (the sirens) are only 2 blocks from us, so I hear them loud and clear. I also have weather bug alerts set up so anytime there is a change in our weather outlook, it pops up a warning on my computer screen.

Some good thunder and lightening though Jayne. This would be your kind of storm if it was a bit warmer.

All I can say is "Rain rain go away" Looks like we might be in for some minor flooding on some of our roads. I know that our garage and center storage area out back are already floating with water. But that's because the driveway slants to the back of the property instead of towards the street like it should. The birds are going to love us once this all stops, as the street at the end of the drive is graded improperly and we always end up with a great big puddle at the end that lasts for days before it dries up. I call it the local duck pond. ~L~

But seriously, I will stay in touch if anything worsens in our area.

RE: Hows your weather today..?
Thanks for the update Angel.

Looking at the radar we have an area of yellow & red over this part of Kansas.

I need to go into town shortly for Cody's doctor appointment but have to watch the road for flooding in rains like this.

That storm hit us about 2 am. It is unusual for us to have a tornado. I haven't heard yet if we did or if it was straight line winds. There was damage to a few places about half a mile from here. The wind was blowing so hard that it not only took out some store fronts, but it also blew the broken glass hard enough to puncture tires on vehicles at a body shop.

RE: Hows your weather today..?
The only tornado I heard about hitting in TX, was just outside of San Antonio.

We have now had rain off and on for over 3 days. Our yard.. or should I say weed patch thanks to the city... is in desperate need of mowing.. with a hay mower. It is over 2' in some places with weeds. Going to take a lot of work with the edger and trimmer before we can ever get it low enough to mow. Once it is all done however, I am going to spray the whole enchilade with both weed/grass killer. Once everything is killed off, we will rent a rototiller, till the dead stuff under, and reseed the whole yard. Gonna be a bit expensive to regrow it all between water, fertilizer and grass seed... but I want a lawn, not a weed patch.

We also lost 3 trees in the back yard to the drought last year that are going to have to come down. It's a shame, as they were the 3 biggest shade trees we had and helped keep the back of the house cool in the summer. If one did a google earth search of our address, you can't even see the garage for the trees that cover it. But that won't hold true for long. Such a shame. I would bet that the biggest one was over 20 years old or more.

tornados do the darnest things.....Angel when you plant new trees put a 6 ft square fence around them and put a couple of baby ducks in the fence between them pooping and playing in the water during the trees first summer it gets a great start and you have duck to give away or eat...Daddy never lost a tree.

RE: Hows your weather today..?
Angel we've had the rain here also but it is welcome as it has been very dry for over a year. We lost a lot of the grass due to the dry conditions but last fall Dennis & a friend planted grass seed so now the yard is looking pretty good.

Took the family golfing a few weeks ago at a local golf course. Areas of the course has piles of dead trees that died last summer due to the dry conditions. We were told they lost over 100 trees.
