Hello
Hello. I have been searching on many workers comp. sites for one that may be able to help. I hope this is the one it sure seems like it would be. I have been on w-c disabilty for over 2 years due to mental stress and ptsd. I have been fighting w-c with an attorney, but I think he is charging way too much. He gets 20% of my by-weekly check, (I am in Pa. near State college) and if I ever settle He will get 20% of my settlement plus 50% of his expenses. Does that seem fair? I was going to post on the injured worker side, but it seems friendleir on this off topic section. Hope you can help me with any answers to my situation, thanks.

RE: Hello
The amount your attorney receives is mandated by state legislation. 20% of the settlement you receive and 50% of any expenses seems very fair to me.

In my state of Kansas my attorney received 30% of my settlement and 100% of expenses.

Welcome to the off topics forum!

RE: Hello
We have a PA attorney who sometimes provides assistance in the Injured Worker Forum. I would really recommend you post your question there. I know this side may "seem" friendlier, but trust me, there is a lot of crossover. Some of the curmudgeons in the IW Forum are pretty damn knowledgeable, and we love them for who they are!

RE: Hello
I can only share the laws that apply to injured workers in my state.

What I can share is the daily challenges and joys an injured worker goes thru. Not something an attorney can share unless they are also an injured worker who has "walked in our shoes"

Noun

curmudgeon (plural curmudgeons)
1.(archaic) A miser.
2.An ill-tempered (and frequently old) person full of stubborn ideas or opinions. There's a cranky curmudgeon working at the hospital who gives all the patients and other doctors flak. (AKA Doctor House) John Doe's old age and stubborn aversion to new ideas make him a curmudgeon of a candidate.
