RE: Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
Happy Thanksgiving eveyone. I hope all have a great day and can enjoy their family's without much pain today. I have reached a milestone in my life this Thanksgivings week-end. This will be the first year I have not had to work in retail or been in a retail store for the after Thanksgiving whoop lah. I will not enter a retail establishment all week end, the first time in my life since 1976. I am excited about it. I do need to pick up some prescriptions tomorrow. I will drive there and let me wife go in and get them, and then her and I are off to a doggy park for the day with our 2 Cavalier King Charles dogs and a picnic together. So all of you who go shopping I wish you the best, but I will enjoy myself without all of that once in my life.
Again Happy Thanksgiving.

RE: Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
A late happy Thanksgiving Day to all.

My daughter and I went to Wal Mart at 10:00 PM last night for black Friday shopping. It really wasn't to bad, had some waiiting and a line to the cash register.

I was a cashier in the early 90"s at Wal Mart, I remember lines extending to the back wall of the store the Saturdays in December before Christmas. I have not seen that type of line of shoppers since the 90's. could be due to online shopping.

A friend of mine was at Target shopping for the black Friday specials and I saw where she posted where she was 240th in line, pure crazy.

I am going out this morning to do a little more shopping, this time Radio Shack as I need a printer for the agency.

RE: Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
Bummer I also worked for wal-mart all during the 90's, i was in mgnt. when you were there was it before they expanded into super centers. Back then before the expansion there was always lines all over the bulding. wall to wall...but the buildings were smaller, so less room for the customers to pack in. more elbow room in the buildings today. You are a strong person to get out in those crowds today.

RE: Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
I worked for Wal Mart in the late 80's and early 90's before the larger stores, and super stores were built.
Sam Walton was alive back then, I remember watching his training videos at staff meetings.

I did findout out there was a fight over the $3.00 waffle irons, one person ended up with a broken jaw, this happened at our store while I was shopping last night.

RE: Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
Wow Bummer all that for 3.00...Yes Sam was alive when I worked for them to. I worked for them for 12yrs... Could have been in Bentonville at their corp. office, but my wife did not want to live out in the corn fields. LOL ...When we got to Ohio my kids did not want to move anymore. We live like gypsys (spelled wrong) we lived out of boxes always moveing around every couple yrs. The wal mart moveing van would pull up load our furniture and off to the next town. But my kids wanted to stay put and have a school as they put it to call theie own. Well being the good father I was, I rode out wal-mart as long as i could and it came to a point that we had to seperate ways. I did miss it and would be in some office position had i stayed with them. If I had stayed with them I may not be an injured person today. But do not know that for sure. Sam was great I am sure he would be very disappointed if he were liveing today as the way they have gone was not his invision of the future. I have a personal letter he sent me when he was alive. I will cherish it as I had a lot of respect for him. But I hate the stores today.
