As a nurse, I fully understand where you're coming from as far as getting all these different opinions on the same matter. It just goes to show...different strokes for different folks, right?
Bad Boy is right in that only YOU knows what is best for YOU! As for the percentages...well, I don't take much stock in them!! Especially after my neurosugeon said to me, "6 weeks and you'll be good as new....you'll never even know you hurt your back!" Boy was he WAY wrong!! Also, listening to the Dr.'s that I've worked with and hearing them give percentages just sickens me. They need to be blunt and tell you something like this, "It's been my experience with this particular injury/illness/situation (whatever) that X% works out this way and X% works out that way....but you're an individual and no one knows how you'll do. Each person is different in how their bodies react to this or that." And be done with it...but they don't! They like to sound good and try and impose an opinion or belief onto you, the patient, that you may not want. That's my opinion!!!!! But...we all know how far that would get me if I told a Dr. I wished he would say it this way or that!!!! If I'm in the role as a patient he'll probably just gaff me off.....if in a role as a nurse...I'm likely to get into a tad bit of hot water for telling the Dr. what I wished he'd say!! LOL Either way.....nothing is going to change unless they start teaching Dr.'s differently!! Right? Punk  :0) "If I were any better....I'd only be half as good as you!!" |

RE: Pain Doc Appt
when messing with our spines these bozo cutting machines should find out if we are producers of extra scar tissue.....that bloody scar tissue can blow a surgery all to hell
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

Babebahn
My surgeon for my shoulder told me flat out - it wouldn't fix my shoulder as my shoulder will continue to get worse (I knew this because of the disease in the shoulder) but it's for pain relief so worth a try. All doctors have told me when the pain gets to bad that it would be just for pain control until I was old enough for the shoulder replacement - since so many doctors are old fashioned and believe you have to be closer to 50 for them. As for non-union fractures - have they ever talked about bone stimulators to help with bone growth at all? This seems to be something you and driller share in common and with his shoulder they used a bone stimulator - now whether they have something like that for the spine/neck or not I really don't know. |

Bad Boy Bad Boy Wrote:My last surgery of the 6 level fusion from the rear, and removal of the plate and screws from the front. I was given a 20% chance, and a 80% chance of failure or dieing on the table. In other words, this is why I say, I can't tell someone what to do, only they know what is best for them. I trust you enough to know that I trust & respect your honest opinion. I will be seeing the surgeon on tuesday, I will let you know what he says and decides. So far, according to his progress report (which P.O.) because he doesn't always write what he tells me in person...it makes me look like a liar. He tells me that I will need surgery but in his report it doesnt say that....go figure. Babebahn..."Tongues don't have erasers" Injured 1999 3 level anterior cervical fusion 2001 Settled Work Comp Case 2006 w/ Lifetime Medical Currently, C7-T1 is being watched will possibly need surgery front/back fusion from C3-T2, lower back needs another facet injection. |
