Love My WC Doctors..............
I hope this isn’t absolute truth, but I was talking to a well known, well respected, and a very straight shooter Workers’ Comp Doctor. I told him my case settled with OPEN medical. Thought he needed to know that.
His response was, “you know what that really means don’t you? It means that the only Necessary Medical Request that will ever be allowed is “euthanasia”. He wasn’t laughing! Time will tell.

RE: Love My WC Doctors..............
There are some straight shooting WC doctors. I had one that told me straight out "Not to trust them" and he repeated himself to make sure I understood. He no longer worked there when I returned on a follow up appointment. He also added that they work for xxxxxx, naming my place of employment.

Thought he needed to know that. the practice guidelines used to approve treatment in california comp have been developed by his own medical colleagues: the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. if his treatment recommendations goes against research that his peers put together it should questioned before being approved. Euthanasia is not an approved procedure. doctors have huge egos and don't like being questioned. they can do terrible damage and that's precisely why they should be. http://www.acoem.org/PracticeGuidelines.aspx |

RE: Love My WC Doctors..............
My work comp doctor refused to take a deposition last yr because respondent had denied me the 4 month visit. He sat there and that's all he said, not until I see my patient. The real story is that the respondent had flown him back early from Greece to do the deposition. They paid him an extra $750. to come home early and then he refuses to testify. Eleven days later I saw him, little over 5 months after that I had my TKR. I've been very, very pleased with my WC doctor, he's agreed to take on the care with my right knee if it's ever necessary. Alot of WC doctors in this area won't do that. I've referred several people to him with the care I've gotten with him.

RE: Love My WC Doctors..............
1171, yes I know the acoem/ur guidelines. I just thought it was funny this straight arrow doc would say this. I took it that he might be having problems with someone else's case.
IMHO I found all my wc docs started out a bit defensive. That is until they are satisfied a real injury exists and the patient truly wants to improve function and/or heal completely. This is one of those defense drs and it took a long time for me to trust him. My bad for posting something I thought was funny. Take care! Let Go, and Let God...... |

Don't sweat it chrischris - I got the sarcasm. It seems the Dr. is being sarcastically humorous.
