Breast reduction for back pain?

Breast reduction for back pain?
I have thoracic back pain. I am wondering if anyone has ever had or considered breast reduction surgery for thoracic pain? I hope this is not an innopropriate topic...

I have had every treatment my team of doctors can think of from surgery to acupuncture. Nothing has helped my pain. I am wondering if being large chested might be hindering my back from healing, due to poor posture? This might be a stab in the dark.

I have asked my doctors this, and they just say "maybe it would help". I guess pain from large breasts usually is in the shoulders. It is a big step to take without a bit more certainty. My husband doesn't want me in pain, but he isn't thrilled about this idea, which only makes it harder...

RE: Breast reduction for back pain?
my 2 cents:
if you were thinking of getting it before your back problems, you now have another possible upside.
I think you need more reasons then just your back issues so that if it does not make a difference, you'll still be glad you did it. Being comfortable in/with your body can be good for your psychological health--especially for most women.

RE: Breast reduction for back pain?
That is a good point. I have always wanted one for exactly the reasons you stated, being comfortable in my body. Plus, I was always a runner, and the girls made it hard. I never had pain before so I never considered it seriously.

So, even if it doesn't help the pain, I don't think I would regret it. Thanks

But what if her psychological health is set back because of her husbands wishes or concerns?

While in college I assisted in 6 breast reduction surgeries all were done because of back pain, 4 were for thoracic back pain. But the person to talk to is a plastic surgeon not regular surgeons. If you want to look good after surgery then go to a doctor who has done breast reduction surgeries. If you lived in my town I'd send you to my plastic surgeon. The reason is that he sizes the breasts whether it's larger or smaller according to the size of the patient and your comfort level. I chose my surgeon because I had worked with him and I liked his technique. Get opinions from no less than 4 plastic surgeons.

You can PM me if you want more information.

I understand your husband's concerns, ask him if he wants to go to the surgeons office for the consultation. That is why you should only choose a board certified plastic surgeon to do your surgery if you decide to do this. Compile a list of questions to ask, have your husband ask you. Send me a message if you want a good idea on the questions to ask. The biggest thing you need to tell your husband that overall if this surgery helps you that your private life with him will improve because you'll be in less pain or God willing pain free.

No good surgeon will tell you that it will work 100%, it is not their job to talk you into an elective surgery. But I can tell you that your insurance might pay for this surgery. Yes it's elective but if it's determined to be necessary then they should cover it. If a surgeon bugs you about doing the surgery do yourself a favor and walk out. It is never, ever a surgeons job to talk someone into a surgery. Because all surgeries have risks.

If you're wondering about my credentials, I'm a certified surgical technologist, I've worked in the OR's, assisted with hundreds of surgical procedures. Plus I've had a few surgeries myself.
