RE: Preparing to file for disability
You have been given some good adivice.
Before I applied, I mentioned it to my neuro-surgeon. He said "I would". So that stated the journey. I personaly collected my medical records from all the dr.'s. I then apllied online. About a week or two latter I got a phone call to schedule an interview. At that interview, I hand delivered the medical records. Six weeks latter I was denied. I sent in the paperwork for reconcideration and the updated medical records. Six weeks latter I was approved. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Preparing to file for disability
The online application was completed this weekend. He will call his attorney this morning and gather all medical evidence. They were wanting WC evidence as well. I think the attorney is the best resource for all that is needed. I'll have him call the drs and request his own copies to be picked up in person. The process has officially started.
Thank you everyone for the great advise. |

RE: Preparing to file for disability
At the interview I was asked for the name of my attorney, and his secretary.
Turns out the SSA worker knew my attorney well as he use to work for SSA but now is a wc attorney, personal injury attorney, and helps clients with the SSA process. |

RE: Preparing to file for disability
Please forgive me as you may have already answered my question. I am just to tired to do much reading ( blurried vision). I saw mention of an attorney. Is that in refference to the wc. claim or ssdi.?? I recommend that anyone that is going to apply for ssdi.. to do it on thier own the first time. If they are denied, then concider an attorney for the reconsideration process. If they are denied the second time, then deffineitley get an attorney.
Keep in mind that wc and ssdi are totaly different and one does not care about what the other says or is doing. In reference to being approved. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Preparing to file for disability
The attorney is for the WC and possible third party case. We are attempting the disability on our own at this time. The attorney will help if denied.
I do have a question. I filled out the disability application. Is there separate applications for SSI and spouse benifits I need to complete as well? I'm not sure what we would qualify for, if any, but think all should be applied for just in case. If they are a seperate process I will need to complete them. |
