RE: MRI Results
I spoke with a good friend of mine, a nurse at the local hospital.
She said the only way doctors perform epidurals now are with Fluoroscopy. My friend works as a floor nurse at the local hospital and had a patient start to fall, well she injured herself while preventing the patient from falling. She has hernation of 3 disk in the low back and is scheduled for back surgery next month. She's had 3 epidurals since her injury. She signed on with my attorney two weeks ago. |

RE: MRI Results
BK, I have had 3 now, 2 cervical and a nerve clock in lower back. They were all performed with the help of flouroscopy. Without the fl. I would not have had it done.
Just so you know, the injection site will more than likely be sore if not tender and painful for a day or two. They should tell you what to watch for, fever etc after the procedure and give you a number to call if you have questions. I can't remember if it was my first or second cervical epi, but I ran a fever and could hardly move neck after wards for about 36 hours I guess because of swelling at the injection site. I just wanted to let you know kind of what to expect. I don't mean to scare you, just if you aren't expecting it it's kind of scary. I hope the procedure will help you and good luck tomorrow

RE: MRI Results
Bummer Knee, I had 0ne, just one Epidural performed on me. This was done a medical center, and guess what? The Doctor didn't use a Fluoroscopy Light system. Much like others, I guess you can see why we all are saying to you use caution, and be aware of the issue. Don't trust them. And yes the Doctor missed. Need I say more... I do wish you a good outcome though, and pray it gives you some relief that will last a very long time...

RE: MRI Results
Got back home a short time ago, I was at the surgery center for almost 3 hours.
The procedure was preformed under flouroscopy. The procedure wasn't to bad until a nerve was hit and then it hurt like H..... Dr asked me if this was how the pain felt going down the back of my leg. I told him, exactly. The doctor said I have S1 nerve radical pain. Also said my SI is fused. I felt numbness immediately after he nerve was hit. The numbness goes all the way down the leg. Also said I have another problem with my back, didn't get any more information then that. Dr also told me the MRI I had done last week was a bad MRI. I see the doctor in one week. My health insurance is paying for today, already know they will pay 100%. |

RE: MRI Results
I'm glad You're O.K. Bummer!! You are probably going to need a Cat Scan to find your actual Problem. I had Epidural's three times, and I had to have fourteen shots each time because the Pain was so severe they couldn't get near my S1, so they gave the shots to Nerves that travel to the S1 to try and see if it would Help. No such Luck for me, but I Hope you get some relief. Hang in there, and I Hope you feel Better!!

RE: MRI Results
Bummer Knees Wrote:Also said I have another problem with my back, didn't get any more information then that. Ok Bummer, You need to get possession of ALL documentation of what transpired today. The receptionist or the Pain Management doctor's administrator/nurse will provide you with that. Try to get it first thing Tuesday morning--in person! You can also get the x-ray of your lower back ( it's a printout on a sheet of paper, not film) that comes off the machine and shows the image of your lower spine. In my case, since it revealed so much, that one sheet of paper was a powerful information - at a glance - when placed within my file that went before the commissioner who decided my case in my favor. While you are there, ask the nurse what the doctor meant when he said you have another problem with your back AND why the MRI you had done last week was bad. All that should be in his notes, but ask anyway. Keep in mind what I said earlier about the Discogram. Good luck. |

RE: MRI Results
Will do Wink.
I do expect more test to be done of my back and will ask about a discogram next time I see my doctor. I return to the doctor that did the epidural in one week and then see my family physican the next day. My physican is an osteopath and I do believe he will help me more then anyone else. He keep telling me work comp is Bull and it's Bull tehy are doing this to me, he is very to the point. |
