Being watched
I went to the local YMCA yesterday, taking my son to workout on the weights and run on the track.

The surgeon suggested I use a stationary bike to strengthen the quads.
I was going to do this at the YMCA yesterday until I noticed a former superviser from work watching me.

I have settled my claim but decided it was not worth being accused of fraud. Yes, it was the surgeon who told me to exercise on the bike but I likely still would end up in court.

My attorney told my sister about a couple of clients who have settled and ended up in court for similar situations.

Anyone have any experience with this.

RE: Being watched
Just don't want any problems down the road...

Have you had any problems with former workers after you settled?

RE: Being watched
Not saying they wont try anything to get you in trouble but as most said if you are only doing what your doctor has told you what can they do? Don't let them ruin your life.

RE: Being watched
My sister is an injured aircraft worker, same wc attorney as mine. After her settlement the attorney told both of us about the insurance company taking injured workers to court after they had settled. I believe it was the case where the injured workers were doing things after settlement they should not have been doing.

My sister, Millie had bilateral shoulder & elbow injury. She started cleaning business after her injury under contract with different companies. Millie is not allowed to do any over head work so she hires workers to do the heavy work she is not able to do.

Our attorney warned her to be careful in this type of work especially if she were to be watched by a former employee or other individuals for the reasons I gave above.

RE: Being watched
The sad part about WC is that there are folks out there that did screw the system. I think the number of people that got very much and were lying is small but I can see these guys looking at everybody just hoping to recover the money they paid out. I've not heard much around here about this happening so maybe the laws are better in your area for the company to take folks to court and get the money back if your doing things your not suppose to. Always seem like there is like one in a million that got money they didn't deserve but that one case is all these guys think about and make the rest of us look so bad.
Maybe a good way to look at it is your old employer is still wasting money on you since as long as the doctor said you could do that they are paying somebody to watch you for nothing. Would make me laugh thinking it was costing them more money for nothing

RE: Being watched
A correction on my post #6.

My sister started cleaning business after she settled, not after she was injured.

She tried to return to the aircraft industry but found she was on a "black list" and would never work in the aircraft industry again so she started her own business. She holds cleaning contracts with a couple of state agencys and oil companys. As I mentiones she hires out the work that she is physically unable to do.

RE: Being watched
I'm glad she is out of the wc system and doing good. Wish they would just leave us all alone once we are settled.

RE: Being watched
I've been followed around town by a former supervisor, had my picture taken by an administrator while shopping at Wal Mart. A couple of weeks ago I was at the flea market working on my booth and noticed the former supervisor watching me. I wasn't doing anything out of my restrictions, just making price tags, then the same supervisor at the YMCA yesterday.

All incidents have been reported to my attorney.
