Going for Rating????
I am a federal FF and I had a on te job injury to my right shoulder. It was diagnosed as a impingement. I ended up having a orthroscopic surgery in July 10. They took some bone and performed a ac resection. I went to therapy for about 4 months and my range of motion never got better. I ended up getting a second opinion and a second Open surgery was done in March 11. They took more bone. I now just today got released for full duty and I do feel better. I go in a month for my impairment rating and I am wondering how that works and what can I expect? I have been out for a year and a month, had 2 surgeries, 2 mri's and countless cortizone shots and x-rays. The doctor said that the 6th edition AMA is pretty cut and dry. He said the most would be 10% but really acted like it may be lower. I was also told by my local workmans comp specialist that it could be a year from my last surgery before I get a scheduled award? Is this true? I lost a ton of money during this past year with pay, leave, etc.. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Going for Rating????
When I was injured I also injured my ac, grade 2 tear.. Was sent through pt and did get better.. 6 months after pt ended I was lifting over head to a shelf and felt like a ripping feeling.. The dr re exrayed and sure enough the tear was bigger and the ligaments were stretched severly.. Back through pt and after a few months It got better but ached if I reached over head and even to comb hair... I had the choice for surgery and I opted away from it, once mmi for the ac I recieved an impairment for 3%...... I still to this day canot lift over head with that arm...... Hope that helped.

RE: Going for Rating????
you can try a medical library and review the 6th edition guideline to get an idea of how the physician will be rating; it's only way you can tell fair from unfair.
