Just avoided an infection in my new knee
Gee, when they screw up they really screw up. Steri-strips, used to give extra holding for an incision while the suture is absorbed. They're not suppose to overlap, especially cause skin to over lap, which is what happened to me.

I banged my knee yesterday, I had only lost a couple of steri-strips, you're suppose to let them fall off. Only I didn't like the fluid nor the smell. The steri-strips caused the skin to over lap in 4 different areas on the incision. So gloves, triple anti-biotic, but first I took pictures. Then every steri-strip came off, cleaned the entire wound.

Doctor ordered antibiotics to be on the safe side. His scrub will no longer apply steri-strips on any wound (thanks to the pictures I sent).

I am so very, very grateful for my medical knowledge that made me realize immediately that something was not right. I had mentioned the week before that the wound looked slightly over-lapped but they said it was probably swelling. I don't want an infection, I want to keep this knee for a long, long time.

BTW, the cane is no more, I don't need it, I keep it in the car just in case.

Wow! No more cane!

If only I could get to that point.

My TKR was almost 3 years ago and still the cane. I expect I will likely have it until the TKR on the other knee.

Congrats BB, and happy you were able to get on top of that infection.
