RE: our labor and delivery stories for Bronco....just to get him in the mood
With my oldest son things went pretty fast. I walked everywhere when I was was expecting, my ex was a jerk who wouldn't let me drive.
Mine was a sad story, almost didn't get to the hospital in time as the ex did not want to take me. He had a party to attend with his friends. I did get to the hospital and my son was born less than 30 minutes after I walked in the door of the hospital. After my son was born the ex showed up at the hospital with his friends. I asked him what he wanted to name our son, his choice was Harley Davidson. I named him Shawn Lee. I have a wonderful son and two beautiful granddaughters. |

RE: our labor and delivery stories for Bronco....just to get him in the mood
So which one of 'em do I tell about ?? The first, second, third or fourth ?? Each one of them is a story unto itself.
My first was Devon. His daddy walked out on my on New Years Day 1983, 16 days after we found out that I was definitely preggers and had been in a very nasty rear end accident that left me with a severe concussion and a nice little neck collar to wear for the next several months. On July 27, 1983, I went to work feeling like I had a severe backache. Wasn't even thinking I was preggers as Devon wasn't due to be born for almost another month. Went about my work, which included moving 50 lb airplane brakes and tires, as well as other heavy parts from airplanes. About 1 in the afternoon, I told my Senior Chief that I couldn't handle the pain any longer and said I was going to the hospital. Got to the hospital (about 30 minutes from work) and they told me that it wasn't due to the car accident, I was in active labor and instead of manifesting as contractions, it was "back labor" and that I needed to walk, walk walk. Yeah well, walking lasted all of an hour before I couldn't stand it any longer and they finally admitted me. It got so bad that they ended up putting morphine directly into my IV line. After that I was pretty much out of it the rest of the afternoon and late into the evening. My brother and his wife had arrived by this time and were sitting there watching me. At one point, I remember that the nurse was checking my stats and I woke up and told her to go and buy 4 new tires for my brothers car .. including, according to my brother, the correct size. If I knew it before, I definitely couldn't have told you later. And at a later point, I told the Dr to "go ahead and hit him, just don't hurt him." Sometime after 11 pm, the nurse had just come in and checked on my progress and said I still had a ways to go. Not more than five minutes later, I abruptly came out of the morphine induced haze (they had put more morphine into the IV bag as the day had progressed) and told my SIL that she had better get the Dr in there as this baby was coming. The nurse came back in and said your not going to have this baby anytime soon and I yelled at her to get the Dr unless she wanted to deliver the baby in the labor room (back before the time that they came up with the concept of labor and delivery in the same room). She did go get the Dr and he checked me and said "We need to get her into delivery RIGHT NOW!!!! " As they were prepping me in delivery (back in the days when you put your feet up into the stirrups and laid on your back to deliver) I had a MAJOR first contraction in my belly and I yelled out " Jesus, I am only human" and the Dr ( I later learned that he had one heck of a sense of humor) came up, looked me in the eye, chuckled and replied "You know, we kind of noticed that." And with my first good push, Devon entered the world at 11:55 pm 27 July. He was a month early (wasn't due till end of August) and I always say that he was my 20th birthday present as my birthday was 10 days later. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

RE: our labor and delivery stories for Bronco....just to get him in the mood
Well baby is a busy body tonight.. It looks like he is doing the wave, her belly moves this way and then the otherway.. Tomorow is the baby shower (I know on mothers day) every one keeps telling me if she has the baby I will have to dress up in a wig and attend for her.lol... I dont think so........ I have been driving her while she works, I'm not allowed to help with deliveries (per company restrictions) but I am there if somthing goes wrong.. Tonight is a heavy work load, not so much in heavy but a lot of products.. I cant go with on Sundays, but my son is going to do the lifting and make the heavy deliveries... My wife is like many of us, loves to work and dont let pain stop us. I have asked her to take her leave already from work, She says not yet. If you's didnt know she is employed by the same company as me.. But we are also contracted, and we use our own trucks.. So they cant stop me from going with her, but trust me ----with me being out because of injury, they watch me like a hawk...

RE: our labor and delivery stories for Bronco....just to get him in the mood
My daughter's delivery was the most notable (2nd child of 3). I had lost her twin early on after an MVA and I carried her 13 days short of term. I'd had kidney problems (obstructions) and premature labour.
I wasn't in the best of health (dead thyroid not yet diagnosed) and when we went to 3cm dialated but my water had broken so they had to keep me. My doctor ordered an epidural almost immediately, he wanted to keep me as comfortable as possible. So at 3cm I was blocked and my husband muttered something about my being in labor for hours and he went off to take our oldest to the sitter. He also proceeded to get lunch for himself and our oldest. So he was gone nearly2 hours, so many, many things happened very quickly after he left. I was blocked at 3cm dialation, 20 minutes after being blocked I was complete. Fifteen minutes after that our daughter was born. Much to everyone's surprise and imagine my shocked husband when he went into my labour room and found it empty and the nurse escorted him down the hall. Jessica Marie, 6lbs 5oz's, one hour and 25 minutes old. He didn't dare leave me for our third child. Jared broke my tail bone at delivery, that too was slightly exciting but another story. Hoping and praying that Bronco's little bundle will be exciting, triumphant and just beautiful. I have assisted in over 1000 deliveries of beautiful babies. Each one memoriable, beautiful and just wonderful. Nothing more wonderful in this world than the delivery of a baby, hearing that wonderful wail and seeing, witnessing the bonding between child, mother and father. Then to see that kiss, usually the mother first upon the head of that beautiful new being. Bodybuilder1958 |
