Can we request specific medical treatments
Hey guys,

I've been doing research about my injury/treatment, etc... and was wondering if any of you had discussed specific treatment options with your treating physician and if that was copacetic?

In KY if it matters lol.

Thanks!

RE: Can we request specific medical treatments
if it's not, you need to change physicans.
good patients are involved and in charge of their treatment.
way too many failures in serious injury cases because patients were too passive.

however not all treatment options are available in worker comp under Kentucky law.
Utilization review controls much of what can be offered.
make sure you are aware of the limits.
you may have to contact the carrier for their UR details.

RE: Can we request specific medical treatments
Thanks 1171!

I am going to write everything down, and have a cohesive list of questions and suggestions for the new doc on Tuesday. After reading the info you linked to, I will now have a better idea what to ask and how to ask it.

So thanks again and I will post back after Tuesday's appt.

RE: Can we request specific medical treatments
Soooo... Had my list prepared, went to see the new doc ... and they spent all of 5 minutes with me.

I didn't get to ask more than 1 question and the doc only actually physically touched me/looked at me (looked up from the computer screen) because they saw me limp across the room and asked if I always limped (which I'd already discussed in regards to an earlier question, but I guess they didn't hear me LOL).

This is the person who is supposed to help "rehabilitate me"?!?

Is this normal? Is this truly what I can expect from WC? This doc actually appeared to have a decent rep from I'd read, but maybe those patients weren't WC?

How do you actually get good care post-surgery if you are part of the 10-15% of back surgery patients who don't get perfect results?

Sorry for ranting and thanks for any thoughts.

Frustrated in KY.
