WC games at pre-op tests
Hi All,
Went to the hospital for my pre-op tests (my former employer), I had called my WC doctor's nurse yesterday and she told me that everything had been approved so I thought no problem, right? Wrong! The surgery was approved but not the pre-op testing. So I called my lawyer while the hospital staff called my WC doctor. So, I was told there would be a bit of a delay in getting the tests done but they would be approved. So 30 minutes go by, 45 minutes. I finally get called in for the lab work, the questions, etc. But then it came time for the EKG and the chest ex-ray. Opps, another problem. Respondent had approved the lab work, the UA but not the EKG and the chest ex-ray. So I had to wait again while more calls were made, nearly an hour before everything was approved. Then I find out that respondent had made a big deal about 2 of the blood tests that were ordered. Those two tests are to rule out any infection in my left knee. So..., what was suppose to be an hour max appointment turned into THREE hours. My WC doctor's nurse called me on the way home and asked if everything had finally been taken care of. I told her yes and then she asked me how long it took to get everything done. Well my WC doctor according to her probably will not take any more WC patients from my former employer. What a mess the whole thing was. But the staff was nice, I got coffee brought to me, twice. So not a bad day, just a long day. April 26th, a new knee for me!!! Bodybuilder1958 |

RE: WC games at pre-op tests
What if your injury would of caused death and you went to the hospital to die, think they would make you wait to die, tell you to hold on and lets call your wc insurance first to get their approval for you to die.

The test are part of the treatment per the court order on the knee. Your former employer can scream all they want but they can not get out of that court order.

RE: WC games at pre-op tests
it is the reason so many get substandard care.....desk jockeys making decicions about a persons care...takes 6 people to okay a 10 dollar test but it cost 40 bucks to go thru those 6 people
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: WC games at pre-op tests
Actually any talk of dying might of been delayed until a special administrative judge could rule that dying would be proper and approved. Both parties involved.
DNR letters sent to all parties (DO NOT RESPOND), not required. But now that hurdle is done, onward hopefully to surgery. I did make a special call this afternoon, I still have pull in the OR, I did get to pick my anesthesia doctor (CSE only, continuous spinal epidural, not going to sleep, awake, no tranqualizers, nothing) and the two scrubs in the OR. |

Having knowledge of those in OR can boost ones moral going into it.
