May have reinjured the neck
It was a stormy night tonight, lots of thunder, lighting, high winds.

We were upstairs when a lighting stike happened and we lost power, my daughter went racing accross the room in the dark to unplug the tv and slamed into me hiitting the side on head and throwing it to the side.

Not good for someone 6 weeks out from neck surgery.

I took a pain pill & muscle relaxer right away and have a pain patch on between the shoulders.

Guess I will know in a day or two by the way I feel if I need to return to the surgeron.

My daughter feels awful, but it was an accident, I gave her a hug and told her not to worry.

RE: May have reinjured the neck
We got power back about 1:00 this morning, foundout we lost 10 electric poles due to high winds in our area.

Weather reports are calling for more severe weather later today.

RE: May have reinjured the neck
You need to atleast give the Dr's nurse a call.

We survived the storm at the lake, wasn't that bad there. The worst of it missed us.

RE: May have reinjured the neck
Didn't realize you were still at the lake.

We had the storm plus a grass fire from a lighting strike one mile over,

I am having an awful time with muscle spasms in all areas of the back, about the worst they have ever been.

I was up until 2:30 this morning due to the pain, feeling a little better today other than the numbness in the right arm.

Iam thinking about scheduling an appointment with the primary due to the problems I am having with the back.

RE: May have reinjured the neck
Bummer the storm itself may be making you feel bad and hurt all over.....your neck is more stable now than it was before the surgery.....a x-ray may releave your mind tho.....but these funky storm fronts are playing havoc with my back neck and shoulders....get out the rice sock and tiger balm...

RE: May have reinjured the neck
I have waited to update this thread........wanted to see how I feel by the end of the week.

Since the incident Monday my pain levels have increased and have remained at a higher level than before Monday. But what really worries me is the right arm and fingers are numb with strong nerve pain gong down the arm.

My sister invited me to go with her tonight and watch the chippendales dancers preform in a near by town tonight, as much as I wanted to see them, I just couldn't do it. I am known for not taking naps in the daytime, but today after picking the son up from school I came home and took a four hour nap.

I did schedule an appointment with the primary next week to see what he has to say about this.

RE: May have reinjured the neck
Bummer and good luck with the neck, i do hope you did not injure it someway. Maybe a few more days rest will bring it back to where u were with it. Always protect that neck. My first surgical fusion was in 2003. My dr still says today that i protect it everyday, he even notices that when i walk in his office. He says because of all that i have gone throguh with it that i will probably protect my neck rest of my life. I do not want them to cut my neck a third time.

Cervical Fusion 2003, c5-c6. Herniated and damaged Disc L1- L4-L5 S1. Lumbar Spinal Cord stimulator implant 09-2008. Cervical ACDF revision with hardware c4-c5-c6-c7 Sept 2009.
SSDI approved 3-2010. NOW OFFICIALY RETIRED

RE: May have reinjured the neck
No Bodybuilder I did not contact the neurosurgeon.

I was told with the plate & screw in place it is difficult to reinjure the neck,
knowing how busy the neurosurgeon is and his office I did not want to be nuisance.
I decided to give things a week and if still having problems I would schedule an appointment
with the primary with the appointment being next week.

I will probably agin have x-rays to maek sure everything is in place.

We had the marble size hail last night and the winds, I am told Towanda got hit hard twice with lots of windows out, roof damage, and awnings damage.

RE: May have reinjured the neck
Bummer you are easier to have damage....... it is a myth the Drs like to tell us....they put screws in our bones....it weakens our bones......watch the laser video you will then understand what the surgeons have done to us.....that little bump may have done more damage then you think as your surgery is so new.....I am so pissed off I am sick....
