School question

My attorney has suggested I go to local college and take a placement test.... He is preparing himself as well as I with what the ins will come up with... Well I called the college and explained my situation, and all I get is we will send you the brochere on course study. Even after I explained my self to 3 workers I told them at this time I'm not intrested in taking classes, I just want to see where I fall in as in my skills... So now they are sending me an application which is $30.00 for they say I have to complete this before they can help.... My god, morons are amongst us......
I did ask my lawyer and he told me there is 2 tests and could use the scores off either one... He called it the accuplacer/placement..
I dont know if I'm wording it wrong, what should I be asking for.??

Bronco, that is the name of the test that I took for college enrollment. I couldn't remember the name until I saw it. That was the exam that showed I was an old Redneck and needed remedial courses.

Anyway, The accuplacor exam is a placement exam. The purpose behind the exam is to make sure the student knows the required material for basic college courses. Meaning, If a student can not pass the algebra part of the accuplacor exam. The school is not about to allow the student to register for a calculus course.

I am wondering if you are dealing with morons because it is spring break and most of the school personel are off.

Here in texas, I believe the amount for the first accuplacor exam is $30.00. The exam can be repeated six weeks later for $15.00.

Thanks AQA, I'm so glad you confirmed the name because I thought maybe I was saying it wrong.. I am still confused on why I have to fill out an aplication that costs 30 dollars, and then the charge for the test... I will be calling to see if I can talk to someone else, someone that knows what they are talking about.. It is not a big deal that I do it this week but the attorney wants the scores before I see my surgeon... Once the surgeon gives me his decission, I am to have a sit down with attorney and his aid to discuss the path I want to take............LONG winded.......bronco

You may find that the application price is the price for the exam. Further more, what I did.

I went to the college and asked fro directions to the exam room. That is were I got the info for the exam. At that point, I was given a piece of paper to fill out and I had to show my ID ( drivers license ), pay the fee and took the exam. Needless to say, I took it cold. Meaning that I knew nothing about it. Six weeks latter is when I took it again, swallowed my pride and excepted the fact that I am an old Redneck and enrolled for the remedial courses.

PS, if the school does not provide one, you will need a ti30a calculator (or the equivalent). They cost about 12.00 dollars at walmart. You will be tested on your reading, righting, and rithmatic and I think there were two others as well. It will take about 2 to 4 hours.

Wow, 2 to 4 hours..... I better take my meds before I go, theres no way I can sit that long... And good point, my son still has his calculators, we never had to or used calculators when I was in school...

the calculator must be a very plan one. It can not be a graphing one. Some of the tests are timed. Keep that in mind when when you are thinking it is time to get up and walk around. I think I stopped the test twice, just to walk around.

Thanks for the info AQA, I can reposition my self in a chair to keep pain down for short times up to 1/2 hour. But adventually I must stand and walk a bit, If it is timmed hopefully they will stop the clock....

I must not be clear enough to these idiots, I have explained in detail what I want...Today they sent me a career counsling workshops application, and it is to attend 2 seminars at the end of the month and begining of next month.... It is nothing that was talked about over the phone.... Is this the normal AQA, did you have to take these seminars just to take the tests......?

What if I went to the dvr and asked if they have such tests..?

Bronco,there was talk of these things with me my Dr put a stop to it real quick....He wrote a detailed list of what I could and could not do and the amount of time I could do each...my sitting and standing is a big thing.....they couldnt find anything that would let me have the freedom of being able to sit/stand lay down as needed.....they just put me out to pasture like an old horse

First off, when taking the accuplacor exam, once the clock starts, it does not stop. Until the exam time is over with. I think the longest time setting is 45 minutes and that is for writting an essay. I do recall telling them of my disabilty at at the end of every time period. I was allowed to get up and leave the room. I had no time period to return. When I did return, they gave me my paperwork back and the next exam started.

There are three tests that I know of, the ACT, the SAT and the accuplacer. The first two are taken at the high school level.

I do not know what DVR stands for. I never attended a seminar and I found out today that the cost for the accuplacer exam in the Cheese Head state is $15.00

Cheese Head state,lol.. D-V-R department of vocational rehabilitatiom..... These seminars are career counslers,who lecture and discuss interests and goals of individuals for career training... Which I'm not nocking, but just not intrested as of yet. First we want to know (attorney and I) where I stand accademicly, and how much brush up work I would need before even thinking of career change..... If I have to much of a hastle, I am going to make my lawyer set it up himself... But he is out on vacation, soaking up the rays on some beach somewhere, cant blame him... But he is gone til next week tues...

Old Horse sounds terible, but point taken.. As far as the tests, My attorney and I are just preparing and getting ahead of the game.. Nothing has been ordered from wc, He just wants all options ready for me after I see the surgeon next month... I already know he is going to suggest the surgery according to my pain dr that has been giving the new injections as I had another today and we discussed his view point.. If I agree to surgery for my back, I wont have it until at least 1 to 2 months after the Baby is born.. ( getting bigger ) My attorney has not told me yet but I belive he has a court date already, he says I have to have all my appointments taken care of by 4/16. I know he is good, but I will see how good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,long winded sorry..
