need advice
this is a long complicated case so i am going to try and make it short as possible.
in 07 i was bitten by 3 venomous spiders at work, when i went to the er as one was a black widow the sites were already infected . this lead to a systemic antibiotic staph infection(MRSA). so for the first 2 months i had a pic line in and was still bed bound for another 4 months. as i started to become somewhat mobile i discovered i had alont of pain in my left hip and leg as well as alot of a numbing burning pain, as well as spasms and shooting pain that still nvr stops. i nvr got a panel of doctors. i went to the first gp doctor they sent me to 3 days later after teh er visit.(that how i ended up with the pic line and realized i was in bad shape). when the worst was over after that first 6 months he refered me to ortho for the hip/leg pain..i went to wc ortho again no panel. he treated me for almost a year and made several referrals to neuro as he said something is wrong and its not ortho. so they sent me to a nuero who discounted thier ortho. then he again referred me to his neuro partner which i got to c, he ran bone scans, emg's mri's to what he said rule out things. he listed it as first impression sciatica mechanical pain and said i need to b further evaluated to c if i had RSD. wc sent me to another neuro at that point who discounted him saying nothing was wrong its in my head. (no its in my hip and leg lol). so thier general dr i have been seeing for the infection that keeps reoccurring due to a run down immune system and denial on antibiotics bt wc started treating my leg pain where the ortho left off and said hun whats going on is the infection led to a disorder called reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD). wc demanded a mmi from the ortho and a rateing..he documented on a report he could only do it on a pain level and he is not the right doctor to do a rating on me as it is a neuromuscular injury but said from a ortho standpoint on pain alone 1%. now wc wants to settle. after what is now almost 4 years i say screw it fine w/e just finish it. now the commissioner stepped in and said wait a min. no this isnt right she is getting a hearing because 1% by an admitted inappropriate doctor is not fair nor right. so basically i have to represent myself in court to show hey i was an active person in collage furure ahead now im a gimp who can hardly walk. i am now on ssi disability. so what the heck do i do now?????? she(the commissioner) has given me some advise such as records to sepenia like my university records, doctor records etc. their gp dr who has treated me from day one agreed to go to court. but i have no idea what to expect, what rating to ask for what an injury like this would legitimately rate or really what to do. can anyone make any sence of this or no what i should do or need to do in this situation. i know i was railroaded at teh get go. and no, no atty will touch this case as i have been told by several its complicated and not cut and dry. besides the fact that everytime one of their dr;s said something was wrong they sent me to another to say nothing was wrong lol. i have thought about since i am on disability now seeing on my own a neuromuscular specialist to get their opinion and documentation of whats wrong with me but is it a good move in this case at this point? tnx frustrated |

RE: need advice
rhainstorm, I'm so sorry to hear of the troubles you have been through. I am puzzled by you getting RSD from mrsa because of spider bites, at least I have never heard of that. Is it the mrsa infection that keeps comming back...? What meds did they give you to treat it.....?
When I was injured I ended up getting mrsa in the hospital, they treated me with vancomycin iv drip for about 40 days while in hospital. Even though I get lots of blood tests and swabbed twice I am on Doxycycline for the rest of my life to help prevent it from comming back. Wc has never declined any treatments or meds due from the mrsa. And even if they didnt cover the Doxycycline its a cheap drug and cost around 8 to $10 a month. It does sound like you need a lawyer, and hope you find one fast...... I wish you well..... |
