Flu shots are given IM..intramuscularly. There are four sites for these kinds of shot.

1. Deltoid
2. Thigh
3. Hips
4. Buttocks.

Flu shots for adults are mostly given in the deltoid muscle. That is the meaty part of the upper arm below the shoulder. You can use the palm of your hand to mark the area for the shot by making an upside down V shape.

This injury you describe is a rotator cuff injury that usually results in falls and in repetitive use. Not only that, this specific area you mentioned by name runs from the top of the shoulder to the spine of the scapula. That is nowhere near where an IM shot is normally given.

I can only go by the facts you have given thus far. If they gave you the shot in a highly unusual manner that somehow resulted in this injury, you will need documentation as has been said. This is highly unusual...you must understand that. This is why medical proof is essential in backing up your claim.

Believe me or not...that is your choice. How you proceed is entirely up to you. I can only tell you what I know from my experience.

the vaccine was given high in the deltoid close to the AC joint, which the employee health director said was inaproppriate. Yes, I know this is unusual . Thank God I'm covered by my health insurance. I was not planning to file a claim until I found out how long I'd be outa work. I do not have the stomach for the drama!

unless the vaccination was required or provided by your employer it would not be covered by workers comp even if it was found to be responsible for your condition.
