Something has changed in my knee, not good

Something has changed in my knee, not good
Twice yesterday it felt like my knee was dislocating medially. The first time my husband caught me before I hit the ground, I nearly passed out due to the pain. It was nearly an hour before I could walk on it. About two hours later the same thing happened only I was more aware of what was happening, that the patella was shifting laterally and I needed to move it back. So when it happened I grabbed the wall and with my left hand pushed my patella medially and then I collapsed to the floor (have the bruise on my hip to prove it). Then I figured out even more, when my patella tracks laterally it literally moves my tibia medially allowing for a partial dislocation of my joint (sounds lovely I'm sure, love working thru these things).

The dislocation hasn't happened again but I can barely walk this afternoon. My hip hurts because I'm walking even worse than before,l my knee seems to be bowing in medially, especially when I walk. So my hip is trying really hard to compensate for the change.

I could go to the ER if it happens again (I'm sure it will), but that will only complicate my case further. I've been waiting for the judges decision since October for a TKR and treatment on my left hip. I've threatened 3 times now to remove this judge from my case and each time my lawyer has talked me out of it.

So quite the problem for me, do I re-position my patella if it happens again? (if I can) Or do I just let it happen and see if my tibial head gets damaged (I've seen cases of that). Gee, that would be sooooo, cool, NOT!!! In those cases they fix the tibial head first, wait for that to heal, screws and a cap usually. Then 2 to 3 months later they do the TKR. All the time you're non-weight bearing on that leg.

And I thought this was going to be such a boring weekend.
Take care all,
BB1958

BB can they put a brace on it to keep it from doing that till you get it fixed?....should be able to sue the darn judge when she goes way beyond the time limit......call your lawyer and light a fire under is arse

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

Body Builder I hate to see you go thru this, it just makes me plum mad!
I hope you post this thread on the injured workers side of the board, I would like to see what 1171 reponds/suggest you do.

Jayne that is the same judge I had, and you know how long took it get anything to happen with my case! It took 36 months before I had my TKR. The delay in medical treatment lead to other body parts being added to work comp. No wonder I received a 75% rating on that knee!

RE: Something has changed in my knee, not good
I have a brace that I'd love to shove up some doctor's or judges arse.
Unloader brace, custom made, but I can't and I won't wear it anymore.
I did buy some sports tape at Walmart today, taping should help keep the patella from tracking the wrong way. But it will only help for a short period of time. I'm having to change my stretching, work outs to accomodate the changes in my knee.

I've developed a slight latex allergy from working in surgery. Most braces are latex, latex free ones cost about 60% more and are all custom.

I dont have alot of respect for your lawyer..it seems by now he would have asked for a new judge rather than disable another human.....I do believe I would ask for a little help from my congressman replaceing that judge permantly.....she seems to place alot of humans bodys in jeopardy

This judge is rumored to be retiring at the end of the year. Hopefully she will rule before then.

I'm being disabled by my work comp judge
